GAP is opening at midnight on Black Friday and I heard Kohl's was doing the same. I think this is going to be the new norm!
Re: Black Friday
That's right! I am not a big Black Friday shopper, just like to hit GAP for 50% off and a few other stores. I'm usually pretty done by then! I will go at midnight so I can get it done and get some sleep.
I may have to brave Black Friday this year.
I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet. <--- this scares me, it's usually done by Thanksgiving so we can set the Christmas tree up on Black Friday and wrap gifts. Eek, I'm behind!
I've never done Black Friday, but I'm contemplating it this year. I like the idea of just staying up late on Thursday and going at midnight, rather than getting up uber early on Friday to go.
What websites do you recommend to preview the bestest deals?
I have heard that target is going to let so many people in (like 10 people every 30 seconds) to help slow the flow through the doors....not sure if this will help b/c the major problem is people cutting in lines when the doors open any way.
I black friday shop and last year tried to do old navy around 2 am thinking it would miss the midnight shoppers but the line was still all the way around the store b/c most old navy's only have 4 or so registers.
I would rather be stabbed with hot pokers than participate in any of this. Am I alone?!
I hate shopping, and I hate crowds. Black Friday = my worst nightmare.
Every last word, sista! You won't find my a$$ out shopping that day, no way.
Yup! Though the thought of midnight sounds much better than 3 a.m. or whatever. Lucky for me, my friends and some family members are all about Black Friday so if there IS something I just HAVE to have, I can send them.
AGREED! I did however happen to stand in line at midnight last Christmas Eve for a huge trampoline for my kids for $145... I just couldnt pass it up as they go normally $100 more than that.
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
Okay, so which is it? Stand in line around the corner, in the cold, at VP for 2 hours, or in and out?
B/c standing in line for two hours just to get in the store - not happening.
When we went at 11pm everythign was out so we loaded up the carts and got in line...registers opened at midnight and we waited probably 45 minutes to check out as we were 4th or 5th in line at our register...this year we will have someone stand in line earlier as a lot of people did this...it was super smooth!
I only go to places with little lines. Like GAP. Last year my cousin made me go to Kohl's and I hyperventalated and we left. There were lines surrounding the store. Saving a buck is not going to make me wait in that line. I usually don't need any of the "hot" items, so I just puruse and if the line isn't terrible, I buy.
thanks to jennied
the best place to go is probably still walmart bc they will price match and they usually have all of their registers open...I LOVE black friday shopping and usually enjoy going by myself b/c i can get around way quicker but last year took my older sister and we enjoyed ourselves. My younger sister wants to go this year and I kind of want to say no because it makes it so much harder with more people but I guess we can do the stand in line while the others shop.
P.S. if you go a little later at target always check the customer service, often times people return things just as quick as they get them and at Kohls the key is to buy some small piece of jewelery from the cases and you can check out there
yeah, we don't go for Black Friday. Typically, I try and have all of the Christmas shopping done by mid-November and a lot of my shopping is online.
We did go out last year around 3 for a early dinner and to grab a few little things-it was pretty quiet. If I'm up for it, we may do that this year as well (DH really wants a new TV and I want a new computer....) but if we don't, I won't be sad.
I guess in Des Moines this is the norm. The mall and stores all open at midnight for shopping.
I love BF shopping but am at my moms and am normally 1-2 hours away from a city with any type of stores I would shop in so the opening at midnight is tempting because there is no way we can go to bed at midnight then get up at 2 and drive a few hours to make it when stores open.
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
