i usually don't start until couple days after black friday...but this year i've picked up things here and there..and even something in january last year for xmas this year.

So you mean to tell me that by the time you give the present at Christmas this year, you'll have had it for nearly 2 years? Why didn't you give it to the recipient last Christmas?

I am horrible with presents. I tend to buy them early and then get so impatient I give them early. ;-;

Like our mothers. We got them some nice pearls while on honeymoon, and we have already given it to them so now we have nothing to 'top' that for Christmas. Woops. :P

Well, I have started thinking of some things, but I haven't bought anything. I usually proscrastinate and do everything in December, with last minute stuff right before Christmas.

I start thinking about things sometime in Mid-October, although I keep a little note on my iPhone so when I come across ideas year round, I have a central place I jot them. It's hard to think of stuff within a short time limit, so then I have a list to reference when it's present time.H's birthday is Friday, so I have to generate enough ideas usually for both myself AND his parents AND my relatives. :P I usually start buying Christmas presents whenever I come across them on sale or whatever, starting sometime in November, but I don't do my actual shopping until after Thanksgiving (so I answered Black Friday).

i guess this sounds confusing..i meant "last year" as in "last-holiday-season".

hmm... I have never experienced black friday because I have only been in the US for 5 years and worked all 5... this should be interesting.

I start keeping my eyes open for deals and things starting in the fall... I like to take my time when shopping for people, and getting deals on things is always nice :P Of course... Like I said before I get Christmas music stuck in zee head starting in fall so.... I guess I'm a crazy holida person >_<

That makes more sense! Yeah, I've done that before, but I tend to get kind of antsy after a few months and want to give the recipient the gift right away. I'm thinking I might try the "buy throughout the year" approach next year.

If you do Black Friday, get ready for chaos! Honestly, I've found the best places to shop Black Friday are the out-of-the-way, not-common-for-black-friday stores (e.g. Macys in Redmond Town Center & hardware stores like Home Depot/Lowes) because you get the deals but without the insane crowds and lines.
