How do I make this?

I don't usually post on this board but I was wondering if you ladies could help me. I'd like to makes Christmas cards and stationary similar to these. Do you have any computer software recommendations? TIA!

Re: How do I make this?

  • You can buy cards at places like Michaels and then experiment with spacing in MS Word.  I made monogrammed cards on Word, it took a while to get everything lined up, but obviously you can just use multi purpose paper cut to size while making adjustments.
  • I personally would use Photoshop and create layers for the background and each of the images so they were easily changed/ customized.

I'm not sure which one we're looking at but Photoshop is not good for text. It's for photo editing. You want to use something that works with vector to use text, like Illustrator.

  • Thanks for your suggestions. I don't want to spend too much money and it looks like Illustrator is $600. I like the idea of trying it in word and I also looking into Publisher! Has anyone used office publisher!?

Yeah, Illustrator is $$$ and it's not really very user friendly.

Which one exactly were you looking at?

With a word or a small phrase I have had zero problems.  I've been doing it for years.

lol sorry! I thought that was a weird question :)

I like all the cards. That simple style is what I'm looking to do. The ornaments and the tree that says peace under it are 2 of my favorites.

  • I didn't open the link back up again, but I would say you could probably try giving it a whirl in MyPublisher. Find some cute clip art and download fonts from dafont.com.

I haven't even started on my cards yet and now I'm going to panic for about 5 minutes until I realize I'm stuck at work and can't do anything until I get home.

Thanks for your help! And good luck with your cards :)

  • I agree about Illustrator being the best, but I know how to use it and there is a learning curve, plus the cost.

How about PowerPoint?  The spacing and placement is much easier than trying to do it in word.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

  • I think using Publisher would be fine.  I prefer it over trying to use Powerpoint.
