dental insurance vent

My dental insurance won't cover night guards. It's not like I'm using them for cosmetic reasons! They're so I don't grind my teeth and then my neck won't hurt...

Sigh...stupid insurance...

Re: dental insurance vent

  • you can purchase some supplemental insurance..there are lotsa different companies to choose from...i don't know exactly what, but google "supplemental dental insurance"...you pay monthly, and they'll cover things in addition to your reg dental. my dad used this when i got braces as a child.

  • Can you get the cheap store brand night guards? I know they don't fit as nice as custom ones, but they certainly save a pretty penny.

  • I have tried those. They don't fit very well and because they are a little thick they cause me to gag.

I will look into this, thanks! I'm also looking into getting braces at some point.

And they have that gross gelatinous texture.  Blech.  My prescription one (which didn't fit after my wisdom teeth came in) wasn't covered by insurance, and cost around $325, i think (it was about 10 ya).

  • It's ridiculous they won't cover it when it's something that could potentially save them money in the long run.
