Where do you keep books?

In general, where do you keep books?  Mostly fiction books if you read and save them?  Others?  What about things like photo albums?

We don't have any bookshelves downstairs, so I've been keeping them in the bedroom, but we are kind of tight on space.  I never really went through my boxes of books when I moved stuff out of my mom's house, so a lot is still in storage too.  I've been trying to get rid of a lot of my books, but I think some spring cleaning is in order!

Re: Where do you keep books?

  • I purged a ton of my books before moving, but I still have a ton. We purchased the Ikea Billy bookcases in white and put them along a wall in a spare bedroom. Once DH anchors them, we will put our books on there. The shelves are adjustable, so we will have room on the bottom for our larger books and albums.

  • We have a small (2 shelf) book case in our living room that we keep our dvr and cable box on.  One shelf has DH's video games and the other has nice books- hardcovers we love and photo albums.  DH and I both keep a pile of books on our nightstands but I really want to put a shelf in our bedroom to organize our to-be-read books.  Once we have finished a book and don't plan to keep it, I list it on paperbackswap.com and then store it on a small bookcase I have on our attic staircase- out of the way but accessible if someone requests book.

  • We have a few built in bookshelves in our basement, but they are full of school books.  ick.

I also got a really cute ladder-type bookshelf from Christmas Tree Shops.  It wasn't very expensive at all and looks great
