Good News Wednesday

I'll be honest, I have really woken up on the wrong side of the bed and today is just not going to be a great day.  However, in the hope to cheering myself up, I'd love to know what is going well in your life.

So, let's share them ladies:  Good News Wednesday!

Re: Good News Wednesday

  • I hope your day gets better!

My good news is that I'm finally feeling better after being sick since last Wednesday. I managed to get in to see a doctor on Monday who prescribes me 4 different meds to get rid of my cough. Other good news is that total cost of the meds = 4 euros!

  • DH's job search is starting off well; while he hasn't gotten any interviews yet (it's only been 3 days after all), people are showing interest and saying that he is definitely marketable, so at least I feel a bit more calm about it all.  He is planning a trip to China in the next few weeks in order to meet with some contacts as things are done in person there.

Also, the employer may not be sooo a-holish and give him more time so he can search from the US and pay some moving expenses for us.  They are letting me stay until January, so we won't have to be apart for 6 weeks during the holidays!

Getting our dog to the US will actually be relatively easy.  Yay for little Moxie!

I realize that's not really good news as striving to see the silver lining, but it's all I got.

Oh - my period came today!  It was a tiny bit late and with my general exhaustion lately I was worried for a second.  I took Malarone in Nepal and thought maybe it messed with my birth control pill.  100% good news!

  • I didn't really have anything to put in here, but in an effort to cheer you up I will think of something.

On the weekend I'm going to make a peanut butter and chocolate cake I got off a Nestie's blog. It looks amazing.

I really like most of the pics of myself from my Halloween party on the weekend.

I still have a job until next Friday.

  • DD?s pediatrician gave me a flu shot yesterday so that I don?t have to brave the waiting room at my Dr. with DD in tow! I thought that was pretty darn good service.

And I?ve already got all the halloween decorations put away so I?ll be ready to decorate for x-mas! Usually it takes me forever.

The sun is shinning and it?s not too cold out and the hubs is working from home today!!

  • I finally got a car last Friday.  I'm already feeling a million times better now that I'm not stuck staying home or finding a cab anymore.  I had completely forgotten how much I enjoy driving.  It's nowhere near as scary to drive here as I had thought it would be.
  • We got tickets to see the live showing of the Graham Norton Show next week.  We don't know who will be on yet, but I'm really looking forward to it.  I love him!

  • I'm getting a garbage disposal installed on Friday! (they don't use those in NL, they're hard to come by, but FH and I got one as a birthday gift for our combined birthdays from my parents - score!)

Also, Friday afternoon a former co-worker who I haven't seen for 3 years or so is coming over for coffee and catching up (and taking some moving boxes off my hand)

And then on Sunday, we fly to the US where I'll see family, friends and my beloved little goddaughter!

All in all a very good week here in the foodie-household!

  • After just a couple days of doing the exercises, I'm already feeling a lot better and am really hoping to be totally healed by the end of the year and start jogging again in 2012 :-)

I went to an American food store and I have some peanut butter cups and a Butterfingers at home waiting for me.

  • My only good news is that the cramps that I woke up with have abated slightly after my rx pain meds and eatinhg pad kicked in...oh, and it's halfway through the week--weekend soon!

ETA: My cycles have been exactly 28 days since I left XH (vs. 50 or so when I was married)--stress does terrible things to my body!

  • Lots of good news today

    1. DH took Monday off and Tues was a holiday, so this work week is only 3 days for him. Yay!

    2. After going on a solids strike about 2 weeks ago, DD has now decided they're ok again. Thank God. I was picturing a 10 year old who still only drank bottles (only halfway kidding).

    3. We found out yesterday that I'm eligible to get gov't support for staying home with DD even though I have a scholarship. That's 300 extra / month for 11 months! I'll take it!

    4. A meeting with my adviser on Monday resulted in me hoping that I don't have to completely redo the dissertation chapter I thought I had pretty much finished. That is fabulous news considering some of the critique I got at the colloquium last week (his comment on that - unfounded.). Big sigh of relief!
