my mom had a fire in hers yesterday. My brother was over there yesterday doing his laundry and after about 20 minutes, they smelled something burning. he went downstairs and there were flames coming out of the dryer. they contained it and it didnt spread past the dryer. he said he cleaned the trap before he started the dryer, but he was drying a bunch of heavy sweaters and a blanket (which all got ruined). so, just a psa to always check your traps, even mid-cycle!!
Re: PSA: Dryer Lint Traps!
even if it looks like lint is gone there is residue there.
take lint trap, hold on its side and pour water on it. the water should leak through, not pool. If it pools, clean with a toothbursh and some dish soap.
Thank goodness everyone is ok. My BIL's lost his apartment and contents in fire due to dryer 2 years ago.
thanks! it was a close call too cause they were about to leave. I never leave my house while the dryer is going. so i had to yell at them
Im going to tell her to clean with a toothbrush and vacuum the hole too.
navy: what do you mean about the white vinegar??
Holy Crap!!! Had no clue that that could happen!
I clean ours all the time, but still!
Glad everyone and everything is ok
ditto about not knowing that may not be enough. I'm so glad everyone and everything is okay. Once in a while I'll leave with it running and I know I shouldn't. B yells at me when I try to do it in front of him
