s/o "typical nights": things to do with the TV off (non-clicky poll)
Catching up on TN since I was out all night last night and had stuff to do early in the morning.
A month or so I read The Happiness Project and there was a whole chapter on how the author and H tried to find ways to spend time together where they actually interacted -- no kids, no TV, no Internet, even if it's just once a week. So they decided to come up with one outdoor thing and one indoor thing to do together that's easy to do regularly. I think they ended up playing backgammon and tennis (they both already knew how to play and can walk to the closest tennis court).
Have you got anything you'd want to do together, or that H wants to do together?

Re: s/o "typical nights": things to do with the TV off (non-clicky poll)
He wants to cuddle. And nap together. :P
I want to do picnics and walk around downtown.
He wins this argument more often.
(Except I don't nap so he ends up napping alone.)
On weeknights, I think we're just too tired to really do any fun activities where we actually interact (sans movie, tv, etc).
We do really love sports and eating out. So if going to football games and eating yummy food in restaurants count for those types of activities, then those would be ours. We talk about the game and how much the refs suck at football/basketball games. And at restaurants we do the usual brunch/dinner convo about our day and weekend plans, etc.

When it was nicer out, I would go home and prep dinner then we'd go on a long walk and chit chat then head home finish dinner and relax.
We also have date night at least once or twice a month away from the house with cell phones turned off.
We need to! I keep considering canceling cable for this reason, but chicken out.
Eating together is always quality time, but I'm trying to be healthy and save money, so we don't eat out often. We should try to sit down for dinner at home, that would make a big difference. It's nice to cook together too.
I love cards and board games, but DH hates them. We were playing Wii for a while, but got bored (I think DH got tired of losing to me
).
In the summer, we like to go down the water and walk, but not lately. Brrrr...
Sometimes on the weekends, we just go for a drive; that's nice.
We need more ideas!
This is what H wants to do. That and watch comic book related movies... ugh.
I wanna go and see things and be places with and take walks. I NEVER WIN. argh.
We eat dinner at home most weeknights, and I try to be disciplined enough to set the table and have us sit down to dinner together. Usually I end up being lazy and we eat in front of the tv. Bad, bad, bad. If we ever have kids, that habit will need to be kicked pronto. But even with just the two of us, it's nice to turn off the tv and sit down to dinner. I wish we did that more often.
The only other thing we really do together on work nights sans tv/laptops is walk the dog, but that can be a lot of fun. We chase her around the park off-leash, or walk around the pier at the beach.
We're both exhausted at the end of the day, so we're pretty lazy with that kind of thing.

Ditto, and it's easy to default to that. I get up crazy early for work so I can't stay up late catching up on the DVR.

I remember a couple, maybe on Oprah?, who decided for one year to not spend any money on entertainment: no cable, no movies, no eating out. So, they would go to a museum on a free night and find other public events, play board games, etc. Not only did they save a ton of money, they had so much quality time. Maybe cutting back and spending more quality "unplugged" time can be my New Year's Resolution.
W keeps bringing up dancing and I avoid it.
I keep bringing up card games and she avoids it.
Maybe we should trade...

One night of dancing for her, one night of cards for you? I've tried to get DH to go salsa dancing too. Not so far...
Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
We do have a good amount of things like that.
When I'm not broken, we go running together.
We go out to eat a lot.
We go for walks.
We go shopping.
We go hiking.
On weekends, we go backpacking in the summer, skiing in the winter.
Every Sunday morning we walk to the coffee shop together, and come back and DH makes me breakfast.
