Can I vent please?

I know I haven't been on much (or at all!), but can I please whine?  Of all the ridiculous things... I have mono.  A few weeks ago I stayed home sick from work  and found out after it was mono- I had a huge smattering of symptoms and felt awful.  I came around and last week felt better.

I am still dealing with insomnia which may or may not be related, but this morning I felt awful all over again!  I went to work and tried to eat a grahm cracker, gave up and came home.  It sucks!  Where did I get mono at 33???  And if the Insomnia isn't related then that sucks too.  I have ambien which is only sort of working right now.  Blargh.  I just slept all day and still feel draggy.  and of course dh is super busy at work right now, so I don't get much of a break at home.  My life is just not condusive to the kind of lifestyle required to get over mono.

Blargh.  Thats it.  thanks for listening Crying

Re: Can I vent please?

  • That is awful.  I'm so sorry!!  I hope you feel better soon.  :-/
  • Oh man.  I am so sorry.  I had mono when I was younger and it sucked.  The worst part is that I was initially misdiagnosed.  I think because I was told that I was just not being cooperative to recoup and the doc didn't understand why I was tired all.the.time.  Um, duuuh.

I got strep as an adult and the doc was trying to convince me otherwise because I was 'too old.'  I told him and his Harvard med degree that he should test and wouldn't you know... it came back positive.  (He ended up apologizing to me but I felt like a total old fogey with strep in my 20's.)

I totally understand when you say that your life isn't conducive to being sick.  I just felt like crap yesterday and had to take a day, something I hate doing.  It's as if one sick day takes two weeks to fully catch up.

That said, make sure to rest as much as you can, even at home.  Can your H take on some additional duties while you're getting better?  Can you hire somebody temporarily to do things like clean or errands?  Anything will help.  But take it seriously because mono can turn bad if you don't take care of yourself.

  • That sucks! I hope you're feeling better in no time! Try to get as much rest as possible too.
  • ooh man...I'm sorry you have to deal with Mono! =(

Try and rest up and get well soon!!
