Sorry I'm being a bit of an AW about it but I'm excited and proud.
Last night at breastfeeding group we had a celebration for me and Abe and another mommy and her daughter who turns one today. I got a plant and a really nice card from the lactation consultant. We had cake and a round of applause.
I wish every mother could have access to a group like mine. They are so supportive and knowledeable. The moms of older babies were gabbing and taking up time but when it was time for a brand new mom to talk they all gathered around her, shut their mouths and let her talk. It was amazing.
Re: More BFing talk
Congrats on a year of mommyhood!
I LOVED my BF group and was so sad to leave it when I went back to work. My SIL is pregnant and she can't find anything like it around her and I'm so sad for her. Not only do the LC's offer so much useful information, but the other women became some of my closest friends. It's cool that you went all this time, the evening one for us was about 25 mins from me and the timing never seemed to work with dinner/ family time so we only made it once.
Congrats on your milestone and it must have been so nice to have it acknowledged! Way to go momma!
I felt very alone (and overwhelmed) at first with BFing since I was the first of my friends to have a baby. I was so proud to make it to 13 months, but didn't feel like anyone else really "got it" at the time. I developed some supports along the way, but having a group like that must be amazing.
That is such a great accomplishment!!
I am going to my local BF group-- I wish it was in the evening for when I go back to work because I only have a few more times I could attend. I've only been once so far but it seems helpful!
