C25K

Tell me about it.

Love it? Hate it? Can you do it on a treadmill? Favorite app for it?

Re: C25K

  • Loved it. I took it slowly and spent extra time on a week if it was necessary. It did get me running two miles at a time. I ran slowly and just focused on the time. I also noticed a difference in my clothes at the end of the program. I have had several friends go through the program successfully. And I actually felt like I could run, which was awesome. I had an app on my iPod and I loved it. I can look it up when I am at home. You can do it on a treadmill, but I find those to be so boring!

  • Loved it.

I downloaded a podcast with music that I like that helped me stay on the walking/running schedule.

I did it on a treadmill a few times ( i.e. rainy days) and it was doable but a tad annoying having to constantly adjust the speed. Plus I  prefer running outside.

  • I liked it!  I hate running on a treadmill period! But I will be getting back on the running wagon as soon as we move the treadmill from the garage to our den.  Just remember to go at your own pace and repeat days if needed!
  • I loved it. I did it 2-3 years ago. And then fell off the wagon. I started it up again about 18 months ago.  I have since ran probably 8 5ks, a 6 mile race, and a half marathon.

C25k is really a great program that works. You will get to certain weeks and think there is no way, but if you trust the training you have done you can do it. Like others have said - go at your own pace, just worry about time. Your speed will increase with time. Also, don't get discouraged if you have to repeat a particularly hard day or an entire week. My first shot at the program it took me a good  3.5 months to finish.

Good luck of you try it. I highly recommend it.

Ps you can definitely do it on the treadmill, but don't be surprised if its more difficult outside (that's my experience anyway). And I used a free iPhone app that played my music and told me when to talk and run.

  • Guess I'm in the minority. I hated it. I started it with a friend a couple of summers ago and we never made it past week 3. Neither of us are/were runners though... they claim you don't have to be, but IMO you do!
  • Thanks for the input ladies. We are trying to get a cheap treadmill out of the ad bulletin and I was thinking of using this program to kick my butt in gear. I might give it a try and see what happens.
