Hi!
I just ordered a new MacBook Pro that should arrive tomorrow. I currently have a MacBook (purchased in early 2008 and running Snow Leopard, if that is relevant) that I plan to give to my mom when my new computer is set up.
The hard drive on my current MB is almost filled to capacity (I think 116 of 120 GB is in use ). That's mostly pictures and music that my mom doesn't want/need. Plus, not that I'm too concerned about what my mom can find on my computer, but I figure it can't hurt to wipe the personal stuff.
Is there an easy way to do this? I'd like to keep the programs (Microsoft Office and such) if I can while getting rid of my photos, music, documents, etc. that are taking up room and won't be of use to her. I've seen ways to write over deleted items, or ways to wipe out absolutely everything and reinstall the OS and such, but I haven't seen a more moderate way to do it.
Thanks so much for any advice!
