Re: School Girls update!

  • The end is near! I'm still interning and taking two classes. I have through May when I graduate! This semester is going smoother than I had anticipated, which is a huge relief.

I have my program's exit exam on Saturday. It's a 4 hour multiple choice exam. I have not prepared for it AT ALL. I am going to take a course instead in the spring. (We had a few options on what to do, thankfully)

i quit. when i went into it i thought "oh neat i'll learn sign language and then go out and interpret and it will be awesome." not realizing that it's a super hard language to learn and you pretty much have to be immersed with deaf people in order to learn it. the distance of the school, coupled with tutoring, and all the outside activities you needed to do to be around deaf people (and NOTHING was ever close by to me)... i just wasn't ready to give up my business and throw myself into that... i totally understimated how much it involved. it was a really hard decision to make given how much time i put into it.

Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.

Oh no!! That stinks. I didn't realize you had stopped. I was so impressed that you were doing this because it is so hard to learn another language, much less an entire culture.

It sounds like you made the right choice though.  I have to hire sign language interpreters for events and I am so in awe of how quickly they keep up and how well they do!  I can't imagine how long it took to learn it!

I got my masters in the spring, but I'm taking a Human Resources Certificate program now (4 courses) and am going to start a Higher Education Leadership Certificate program in the spring or next fall (4 courses).  I'm doing it because I think the stuff is interesting, I will probably use the material in my career and it's free.  I figure it can't hurt to build my resume while I have the opportunity.

  • good luck with this semester everyone!!

  • Hey thanks for asking. Things are going well. I've started off strong with a 3.8. And were at the midterm pt so its possible to get that 4.0 Its a lot of work and A LOT of stress but its worth it. Tim is finished with his phlebbotomy course and is now on to his bachelors in poli sci. Were so busy we never spend any time together and were going through a rough patch but hopefully that's coming to a close. He has an appt with a therapist tomorrow.
