e-ring question

I had mine resized because it was pretty big. It's top heavy, so it is still rolling around my finger. It's sized to the smallest "size" that can go over my knuckle, so while the ring isn't in danger of falling off my finger anymore, it just rolls around constantly. There is maybe 5-10 minutes out of every day when I am bloated and it fits perfect, but the rest of the time it rolls.

Is there anything I can do about this? The jewelry store is nervous about sizing it smaller because they're afraid I'll never get it off. It worries me to size it smaller because of how tight it feels when I am bloated. I assume it'll be like that in the summer time when it's so effing hot down here. Will tacking it to a wedding band (when that happens) help? Any other tips or tricks? HELP TIP.

  • I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • There are sizing beads that can be put on.  They're two little balls of metal soldered inside the ring that makes it fit more tightly overall, but since the knuckle is more oval than round, you can twist the ring until the oval of your knuckle slips more easily out of it.  It's both smaller and not smaller at the same time.

  • Similar to what Kuus said. My jeweler called them speed bumps.
  • I've seen the beads - are they any less comfortable? They didn't have me try on the bands with them because they thought the resize would work for me. Ehh not so much.
  • If you plan on getting it soldered with your wedding band, it should make it fit tighter.

That's what the jeweler told me.

  • No, it's still comfy like a regular ring.

  • A friend of mine had the other side of her ring weighted to keep this from happening (the part that is on the palm side).  Her jeweler did this for her.  It changed the band shape from round to more of a squoval shape on the outside of the ring, but since it faces the palm, who cares?
    This is my siggy.

I have them - my ring was a little too big, but I worried that resizing it would make it too small, especially in the summer. I noticed them for about the first half hour after I put my ring back on, if that, and not since.

  • My grandmother had arthritis really bad in her hands. Her jeweler made the band so that essentially with the flip of a little latch the ring would get bigger to go over her knuckles. I'll see if I can find out what it's called.

  • I wouldn't get them soldered until you get this problem fixed.  If you don't get it fixed to your satisfaction, you'll probably want to be able to wear your wedding ring without your engagement ring sometimes.
