Top Chef Texas 11/2 *spoilers*

Holy shitton of chefs, batman! And Emeril is a judge? I've never seen his show but hopefully he'll have more personality than James had.

The judges were so cutthroat tonight! That first dude to go definitely deserved it, though... I am no chef but I could tell he was hacking that meat up badly. I agree with Tom that a real Top Chef should know how to butcher meat.

I was sad to see Nina go, I bet she would have been a good one. Nyesha seems to be the bigger threat at this point.

I am excited about this season, and I think it's really neat that the TC kitchen has a wood-burning stove this season, it could make for some awesome dishes!

What did you think?

  • it's hard for me to really care about any of them this early on, especially with so many....but yeah, i'm pretty sure i could cut a better tenderloin than that guy...and i only watch top chef on tv.
  • Im calling it now: Either Nyesha or the guy that compared himself to the voltaggio brothers and richard blaise are going to win.

  • I loved the attitude of the judges!  I did not care for the guy who destroyed the meat.  He was so full of himself so I was happy to see him go home.

I'm from Chicago so I'm looking forward to seeing our home town contestants, especially the chefs from Moto.  We are 5 for 5 right now and there is one Chicago chef left to compete for a coat!

  • dh and I really enjoyed it, more than I thought.  I liked seeing them compete for their spot.  You really got to see them work under pressure, instead of just waltzing in, stating their pedigree, and acting entitled like they are gods gift to the show.  I liked that the judges were very straightforward and cut people quickly when it was clear they couldn't hack it.  I think it's a good group of competitors this time.  The last season before All Stars was not very good IMO (season with Angelo and Tiffany, winner was ultimately Kevin which I thought was total BS).   I'm glad to see a strong group this time.  Happy our show is back!

  • I'm glad that they have to earn their spots this season. and like one of the pp said, I really don't care about the contestants either way at this point, it's just too early.  I'm really not a fan of Emeril but I'm glad about the judge change this season.

Are the commercials for this bothering anybody else? If I have to see Padma in that ugly denim dress again, I'm going to bug out.
