There is going to be a 'huge' HUD home auction in my neck of the woods and my REA had told me about it and how it might be something worth checking out. He gave me a list of about 20 properties that fit the description that I had given him.
Together we've been looking for a good sized home with a good sized back yard for about 6 months.
I know very little about HUD homes and I have a secondary meeting with him tomorrow to learn a little more and to see if we can go look at some of the homes.
Can anyone tell me some pro's and con's of owning/bidding of HUD homes?
I would also like any information/ personal experience anyone has on these sort of mass auctions.
I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you in advance!!
Re: Any advise would help!! HUD home question.
We bid on a few HUD homes. Just be prepared that they come 'as-is', and can have quite a lot of work to do on some of them. HUD does an inspection themselves so if you look on their website at the listings you can often get an idea of what kind of shape the place is in.
Oh, and bid based on the comps, not the asking price. I've seen homes where the asking price was nowhere close to what it sold for.
I made a blog!!
