Bookers Remorse

So, DH and I got all excited and ahead of ourselves about this scuba diving trip to the Maldives & tour of Sri Lanka over Xmas. We've booked the flights, have info on all our accommodations and touring - but when looking at the final number - your heart drops to your stomach!

I keep thinking, that's X less in our house fund Sad

Someone PLEASE talk me out of my bookers remorse. I know in the end this will be a kick ass trip - probably one we talk about forever afterwards. You cannot put a price on memories, right?

We're headed to the Maldives on Christmas Eve!

Re: Bookers Remorse

  • Four years ago, my husband died suddenly.   We had just returned from a 7-day cruise with each other.   When I lost him, I suddenly realized that it didn't matter what kind of house we lived in, cars we drove, or TV we watched -- what I was most thankful for was the time we had spent together.  I wish that we had taken more vacations with each other.

Your trip sounds amazing.   I think you're going to have a fantastic time together that you will both end up cherishing for the rest of your lives:-)

  • Avion makes a great point.

If it is of any consolation, we are headed to the Maldives tomorrow and it is shaping up to be a sickeningly expensive trip for us as well. All of the little extras like "Thanks for placing a deposit on a room at our sweet @ss hotel on a private island... Please note that we will be charging an additional $500 to your credit card for manditory seaplane transfers to our property." Whaaa?

x2 because we are staying on one island for a few days and then another island for a few days. Doh. WTF.

  • I am so jealous.  I wish we had done a trip like that before we bought our house cause we can't afford to do a trip like this now...do it!!!!
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • Thanks everyone! I think you are totally right. I know eventually we will be home, with a huge house - mortgage - and kids, so we def won't be able to do it then. It will be a one of a kind Xmas trip!

Me either. But I never regret money spent on doing things together.
