Is it possible to block someone on Pinterest?
I have someone following my boards who I do not want to follow my boards or to see the things I pin, etc. I'm not following her but I would like to make it so she can't see my boards either. Is there anyway to do this?
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity

Re: Pinterest blocking ?
A couple of months ago I had a board for anniversary ideas and I wanted to block my husband from seeing it so I emailed them and ask if it was possible. The guy told me that no it wasn't possible, they wanted to keep Pinterest open to everyone but he understood why I would want that and would keep it the suggestion for later reference.
So I know you couldn't at one point in time, and I know I haven't seen that feature recently either.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

You cannot make it secret or block others since the idea behind pinterest is not for it to be a personal bookmarking site, but rather as a place to share ideas with others. If people made it "secret" then the entire point of the site would be lost.

That is such a good idea! I don't mind if strangers follow me or repin my stuff, but there are a few real life friends that do, and I don't want to pin something because I'm afraid they'll use it/do it for a party or their kids first. I know that's kind of stupid, but w/e.
PS - I sooo want to pinterest your DD's costume, but I don't want to because I know my friend will use it for her daugher first;)
I think this is narrow focused of them.... I don't mind most of my pins to be public, but like other PPs have said, privacy options would be nice! Not to mention being able to have an account not tied to one of my other social networking identities. Come on Pinterest, get on board!
You don't have to have your Pinterest tied to anything. Mine isn't.
I will disagree with you about it being narrow in focus. Their purpose is a sharing site--not a private bookmarking site. How would there be any "sharing" if was private? If you want/need privacy, use a private bookmarking site.

Aw thanks--similar scarecrow dresses are all over Pinterest--where do you think I got the idea? Afraid to pin? Bookmark it instead
You know...what we used to do before Pinterest LOL!

Thats what your favorites folder is for. If you want to save something, but don't want others to see it, add it to your personal favorites and not a share site. The whole point of Pinterest is to share. To quote their site: "Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests."
And my account is not connected to my facebook. You can easily change those under settings.

You need it to register but after that you can go into your settings and unlink it.
If you google "online bookmark sites" several will come up. Google has one--I haven't used it to recommend it. You can also use your browser bookmarking system to store your favorite sites.
Or, change your Pinterest name to something that is more private.

I have the same problem, an ex of my husband has posted the most unflattering picture of me she could steal off of FB and bashed me on Pinterest under the board "Things That Make Me Laugh". I only found out by clicking on an industry follower so I could follow some of those people and I saw her on there. I saw a photo that looked familiar and clicked on the board. Sure enough it was a pic of my husband and I on our honeymoon standing by the Southernmost Point (and post pregnancy). After seeing that, I don't want her even being able to look at me or my interests.
I wish Pinterest would allow you to block specific people. I love the sharing aspect and want to keep my profile public, but for toxic people like that... I can do without them!
