I should be in bed...

...but I'm up and wigging out. Not over anything important, just frivolous Christmas crap.

Danny wants an iPod touch for Christmas. I already had a bunch of presents picked out for him before he told me this. And the 10 presents that I want to get him combined cost $50 less than the iPod. I would just get him the iPod, but he's the type of person that likes presents under the tree. If I go with the iPod, he'll have 2 presents: the iPod and the tool box I already bought him. I can't afford the iPod in addition to the other presents.

I've been looking for deals, but all the ones I could find have cracked screens or don't come with all the accessories it should. I don't know what to do. If it matters, the other presents include a few DVDs, tools, a watch, and clothes (all of which he has mentioned over the past 2 months that he needed/wanted).

What would you do? (P.S. I'm gonna go try to sleep now....see you tomorrow afternoon or evening. Smile

Re: I should be in bed...

  • You could do the iPod, toolbox, and then maybe a few crafts just so there is more under the tree? Like wrap up a cheesy massage, night out, etc coupon book, or bake him some of his favorite cookies and put them in a tin.

However, he is a grown man, and if he asked for the iPod then he must know how much it costs. If you got him the expensive gift he asked for, and then he got sad that that's "all" he got, then I vote it's fair game for you to punch him.

  • I agree that I'd probably get him the iPod.  I would, however, wait for Black Friday and be willing to be one of the crazy people out there- they had iPod touches last year for $150 at Target.

  • I agree with the going with the ipod, maybe if you can't get a good Black Friday deal on that you could find some really good deals on some of the smaller things you wanted to get him.

A-- I think I love you for the bolded part. Big Smile

B-- I also think I'm leaning towards your idea. I've been crunching the numbers all day when I had down time at work and I think I can get the iPod, the toolbox, the watch, a DVD (not DVDs), and a few tools to go in the toolbox on my budget. He'll just have to deal with it.

I wish I could do Black Friday. I can barely get through Wal-Mart shopping on the first of the month with all the people crammed in there. Black Friday would give me a panic attack. I may be able to find a minion to BF shop for me....*evilly strokes chin*
