Stainless steel appliances

How do you clean them? I have tried several different stainless steel cleaners and even some other suggestions I found on google. Everything seems to make it worse!

I have fingerprints, water spots and spots that just look different. I don't really know how to explain it but a few spots look super shiny compared to the rest of the fridge.

Have I ruined the finish? Or is there something that will make the finish look clean and uniform?

Re: Stainless steel appliances

  • I've tried a lot of different products on mine, but really what works best for me is the Weiman Spray Cleaner for Stainless Steel.  You spray it on and wipe/buff with a soft cloth. I get it at my local grocery stores, Target etc

This is the same product I have been using on my SS appliances for the last couple of years. No complaints!

  • Baby oil. Seriously. It works beautifully. And for oven tops as well.
  • Thanks! I haven't tried that. But I will pick some up later.

I just tried soap/water, rinse and dry. I used 3 different microfiber cloths (one for each step) It seemed to work really well. Almost too well. The cloth I rinsed with turned brown and it seemed to be taking off a lot of dirt or something. I clean them regularly and I was shocked at how brown the cloth was. So now I am wondering if I have been misusing the products and not wiping/buffing enough after I apply them.

Hopefully the Weimans will make it shiny.

  • We use Weiman's SS cleaner as well.
  • I use a soft cloth & olive oil. Rub with the grain & wipe of any excess.
