Eileen Fisher alternatives

My MIL is in need of a new wardrobe.  I'd love to get her some pieces from Eileen Fisher, but it's just not in the budget.

Does anyone know of any cheaper alternatives (preferably with natural fibers)?

Thanks!

Re: Eileen Fisher alternatives

  • Have you looked at J. Jill at all?  They seem to have a similar design aesthetic and if you look some of their better pieces are natural fabrics.  They are lower than Eileen Fisher.  Talbots may be another option with some of their simpler pieces.  I got my sweater dresses there last year and they were 100% merino wool.  Talbots had a longer duplicate of this dress last winter.  The only thing that got me through that movie was the thought of finding something like that dress.  They are trying to go younger, but seem to be keeping their natural fabrics and quality.
  • I didn't even think of J. Jill.  Thanks for reminding me.
  • No problem!  Eileen Fisher does do outlets too and ends up on deep discount at Nordstrom and the Rack.
  • Nordstrom Rack is hit or miss, but once in awhile I see a full rack of discounted Eileen Fisher items there.

  • I agree that JJill is a good alternative...also Garnet Hill carries a small amt of Eileen Fisher but they do have other clothing that is similar (and less expensive).

I love Talbots.  I know a lot of folks think it's for older gals, but I've been shopping there forever.  Do they have some 'grandma' pieces?  Sure!  But they have a lot of great things and some really modern pieces that are great.  I live near an outlet and they have INCREDIBLE discounts.  I love a lot of their shoes...but only get them at the outlet.  I haven't bought anything full price in over 10 years.  They also have incredible customer service.
