SIL Bridezilla rant

not so much bridezilla just has everything plan to a tee.

two months ago she told me GOLD SHOES, okay whatever, last weekend it was changed to dyed to match shoes (gag me). This wedding is in like three weeks. ugh.

i picked up the dress (it is strapless) but i assumed like all brides are understanding and will let you do straps, considering myself and her other two bridesmaids have BOOBS well she said no, strapless only. now i have to go buy a strapless bra? do they make them in my size?! my mom said put the straps on and have them tucked in. my cousin also in the wedding is like um I NEED STRAPS.

the dress itself makes me look preggo which is annoying. because i am only bridesmaid who has had a kid so you know i am probably way more self aware.

also i was not invited or even asked about the bach party. haha

Re: SIL Bridezilla rant

  • Nordstrom for a bra.  Though that's probably way more than you want to spend.

Why no straps?  It seems weird.  And it will be obvious that the bridal party is uncomfortable.

I had a dress that was strapless, but the straps were sewn on and I tucked them in for the ceremony. The minute we were done with pictures I put on the straps.

And I'm sure you don't look pregnant.

  • I would wear the straps and maybe like Beagle said, just tuck them in until after the pics and then put them on.

I would definetly check a department store for a bra.  I know Boscovs and Macys sometimes run promos on their bras, and Macys always has 20% off coupons in the Inquirer.

  • When I needed a strapless bra for my wedding, I went to a specialty bra store.  They would have your size in stock.  But I would just wear straps. Why does she care?

If you do go for a strapless bra, I went to Chrysi's Bra Boutique in Cherry Hill.  I think there is also one in the KOP mall, but not sure of the name.

  • Can you borrow a strapless bra from someone?

  • ok...so being DDD strapless or a strapless bra would NOT EVER be an option for me.  i would just tell her that is the way it is.  you do not want to be uncomfortable or pulling up your bra/dress all damn day :(  GL!

  • So I am gonna say Nordstrom as well-they will help you to find one that hold up your girls pretty well and they do carry a ton of sizes. It will probably be expensive though...

I agree-maybe you could borrow from someone?

  • Def. get straps put on, for the reception and after pictures. That's wierd she's being so anal about the strapless thing.

  • some straps might not even do half the job that a good strapless bra will do.

go to Harriets Innerwear on Passyunk.  they know what they are talking about and have a LOT of sizes.  bring your dress.

  • If you don't care about the backlash, bring a dress you are comfortable with to change into after all required wedding photos are taken. (Maybe blame the Milo for spitting up on you and thank goodness for your girl scout skill and coming prepared with a back-up dress Wink).  And, maybe Lane Bryant for a more affordable strapless bra?

  • Im thinking one "accidental" dress falling down incident will be enough for her to realize that HER WONDERFUL DAY will just absolutely be RUINED if your dress wont stay up and she'll be okay with you whipping out your tucked in straps. ;)

  • I love your comments.

Nordy does not carry my size I am sporting a 32 h/hh at the moment. But i will go to rum's suggestion harriets if i can't squeeze them into the one I have from my wedding.  also I'm going to get a cute cardigan for the party to wear over it.

The odd thing is the bride is not a size two she understands the plight. These dresses are very airy empire waste so no structure. All of us wearing them are a size 12-22 so no one small she picked them off a rack none of us tried them on.

  • I would be a total *** and would comply with the strapless dress but I would wear a regular bra and throw a wrap over your shoulders or some sort of non matching shrug just to piss her off.

i'm actually waiting for her to tell me i can't wear my glasses or something ridiculous.  my other brother is just as done with this wedding as me, we both have the same position we are only doing this for our brother and we already did this once for him with one crazy bride (SUPER CRAZY BRIDE)

  • Why is she being such a hardass about strapless?  Why care about something so uninportant?

It must be exhausting to be so obsessive about every.little.thing.

  • If it helps, I wouldn't even look at anyone's rack because I would be too busy making fun of the dyed to match shoes.

You could be topless, and I would still be staring at the Dyeables.

  • I'd just let her know that you have no issues with everything that she wants but unless she wants the dress falling off of you, your going to wear straps and will tuck them in for pictures if you have to but you need the straps. What is she really going to do? I'd just wear the straps.
  • Cheap, not as uncomfortable as you would think (it's not a 'real' corset) and it worked under similar circumstances for me (34 GG).

I have never met a strapless bra that did jack for someone above an E cup.

    Oh you'll use them again...........

     um I NEED STRAPS.

for my friends wedding I didn't do straps for the ceremony/pics etc, but I had them tucked and busted them out post pics for dancing. What is she going to do, rip off your straps?   I was in a wedding in May with these honeydew melons and got my bra from Sears

Ugh, I'll just say spanx, with the pee hole.... :-P

also i was not invited or even asked about the bach party. haha

I'd be glad!  Apparently BIL is getting engaged on Friday and I'm nervous that I'll be asked to be in the wedding.... considering I'm the only SIL........ I'd rather help with stuff behind the scenes.
