Happy Friday!

I think I'm coming down with something! Crying

I got home from work yesterday at about 3pm and passed out. I didn't really wake up till 6am this morning and I still feel like I could sleep for a few more hours.

Tonight, we're going out to dinner for my dad's bday and meeting up with some friends for late night HH.

I'm hoping that I don't have to do anything else this weekend and I can just be lazy and sleep.

I hope everyone else has a great Friday and weekend!

Oh yeah, and don't forget, 520 is closed this weekend!

Re: Happy Friday!

  • oh i'm so jealous how much you slept yesterday! a friend of mine came over because she wanted to make me dinner...and she came late, so we ate late..and by the time dinner was over (8pm), i wanted to PASS OUT but she wanted to chitchat. fun, but i needed to sleep. as soon as she left, i took a shower..but i was literally crying in the shower because i was so tired. it was pretty bad.

i'm so happy that it is friday...h and i are going to see the 'seattle-mist' play today at showare center (don't look it up at work if you don't know what it is!). it's also our 6 year dating anniversary Big Smile

this weekend should be good and relaxing. i'm expecting a lot of nesting out of you guys, since we've been doing *awesome* on normally off-peak hours!

    have a great weekend!

  • I came down with something last weekend. Hopefully you can rest and it will go away.

Last night was good. I talked to my brother (which happens about twice a year) and talked about what to get my niece for her birthday. I also baked cookies. They took a little more effort which I didn't really have the patience for last night. I went to bed with a sink full of dirty dishes and I hate that.

At work today and I'm at the reference desk now and have a big meeting in the afternoon. No leaving on time/early today!

  • Good Morning.

Not to much going on.. I need to go clean, then do some other things around my  house, hopefully get some sewing done. Other than that nothing to eventful.

One thing I've started to find out the clothing that still fits me in my wardrobe makes me sad.. I need to go shopping, but don't know what to buy ugh Sad Stretchy shirts I suppose..

  • Morning everyone!

I just dropped Link off at the vet for his dental extraction (his baby teeth didn't fall out so they have to put him under to pull them out) and I'm totally freaking out. I swear I will never be able to have a child, how do you deal with a sick kid? Or kid with a procedure?

At 9:30 I go for the dr. appointment for my foot, so I'll be letting you all know what's going on after that.

  • hey guys!  my experiment worked!  well, it was a pilot, but it would be SO COOL if it was real.  I decided to fit in another experiment before my trip so I can know for sure if the results will repeat... which kind of sucks because now I have to come in tomorrow, which was already going to be a very busy day.  But this is the part about science/grad school that I love and I can't help but want to know if this is real.

    Go huskies!

  • yay amanda, that's so awesome!

  • emy, Link will be in our thoughts today.

Before I got married, I had a cat that had diabetes.  I had to give him insulin injections twice a day, feed him very expensive, special food, and monitor his weight, behavior, water consumption, and how much he pottied.  He "crashed" really bad two weeks before our wedding and stopped eating after that.  I had to put him down just five days before our wedding.  We had a honeymoon baby (not intentionally), and it sounds ridiculous, and many would argue that it's SO DIFFERENT that there is no way, but I swear, my experience with him helped me with being a mom.  In some ways, being a mom is easier, because kids do eventually get to a point where you can reason with them and they can talk to you and tell you if something is wrong.

  • Yay for successful experiments, amanda! I hope they continue to go well!

Yay also for 6yr dating anniversaries, jennlin! Heh, our 6yr dating anniversary is next weekend, but we met six years ago today, hooray. :D

Lots of cleaning to do today, and if I'm lucky, I'll sneak baking a batch of cookies in there, too. Our first NaNoWriMo Write-In is tonight, so we'll be having people come over. WHEE.

LOL you are right Jenn, it did used to be herpes (and HIV before that).  Now I'm in immunology, which is related - I study how the immune system responds to disease :)

  • that's awesome. I'm always in aw of you bio/chem folks. I considered computational biology when I was in undergrad, but I could never get past chemistry.

  • I'm so glad it's Friday.  Do I say that every Friday?  Well, I'm always glad.

Today is James's birthday.  He wants me to basically ignore it, but that is so lame!  I baked a cake and bought him a gift and we'll probably go to some casual restaurant for dinner.

My weight was down a lame .6 this week.  At this rate, it's going to take me a zillion years to get back to my goal weight (I'm 5 lbs away from it right now).

Today was "western" day at school for Tman.  He had to wear his uniform pants, but he's all decked out otherwise.  I had to run out last night for a gun because he left his at grandmas.  I ended up buying him a whole little set.  It was just $15 @ Walmart.

  • TGIF!

emyinpink:  I'll keep Link in my thoughts!

I am SO EXCITED for the Husky Game tomorrow.  DH and I will be bottling the beer we brewed 2 weeks ago.  It should be pretty yummy, it's a coffee flavored stout.  It is very dark, and brewed with the deepest, blackest Duck hatred Wink

My Duck joke of the day:

One day in an elementary school in Eugene, OR, a teacher asks her class if the Oregon Ducks are their favorite football team. The whole class says yes, except for Little Jimmy.

The teacher asks, "What's your favorite football team Jimmy?"

Little Jimmy says, "The Washington Huskies "

The teacher asks, "Well, why is that?"

Little Jimmy says, "Well, my dad is a Husky fan, my mom is a Husky fan, I guess that makes me a Husky fan."

The teacher angered by his reply says, "If your dad was a moron and your mom was an idiot what would that make you?"

Little Jimmy says, "Well, I guess that would make me an Oregon fan."

Today is my Saturday so H and I are leaving soo to go run errands. i got up this morning and cleaned and febreezed everything so our house smells nice and fresh.

  • Yay Friday! Although, since I'm SAH, every day is Friday. LOL

Jenn - sorry to hear about your tireds! I know how that goes - the crying when you're so tired you can barely see straight.

We have our childbirth class reunion tonight - I finally get to meet the other babies! Yay! And M gets to meet the other babies, too - so that should be tons of cuteness. I'll have to remember the camera...

M is napping right now (yay!), so I get some down time. I have stuff to do, but not a lot.

We're going to see my grandparents (M's great-grandparents!) tomorrow. We were going to go on Sunday, but we changed since the plans we originally had with our couple friends fell through, and we wanted our Sunday free. So now my mom may not be able to come, and we might not get the 4 Generations picture I wanted - oh well, we can get it at Thanksgiving.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

I hated that - so I went to Sears and Target and got some plain maternity shirts (mostly t-shirths, since it was summer) for cheap. Sears is usually always having a sale of some sort, so it might be a good weekend for you to get some basics to stock up on. :)

  • Good morning! I'm glad it's Friday, it's my day off. I have an acupuncture appointment.

This weekend is not going to be fun at all. I have to close at work tomorrow night and then all day Sunday. Sigh...

Though tomorrow morning I'm going to my friend's baby shower. It's a tea party and it sounds like fun!

ha, that's awesome. she works in the bronx :p. on tuberculosis. my brother's in medical school, so they're both crazy brilliant folks.

I went the other route, and after having retaking chemistry to get the grade off my transcript, just went full math/computer science.

  • Good afternoon!
I'm running a 5K Thanksgiving morning and i've only been running on the treadmill, so today or tomorrow i need to run it outside so i get an idea of what goal time to set.  I'm not looking forward to it b/c it will be cold.  But it will also give me an idea of what cold-weather running stuff i might need.

There's an Occupy Tacoma march we might check out this afternoon, as it's not too far away and i'd like to see what's going on.  No solid plans this weekend.

I had a reaction to a few bug bites when we were in Hawaii (July) and had to go to a clinic (which turned out to be an ER) anyway, i got the bill today.  $6.80 for a trip to the ER, for which i was not admitted.  I don't know anything about Hawaii's health care, but i think i like it.  I still have huge dark circles where i was bit :(

Amanda -- exciting that the experiment worked!  Does some of your research involve diabetes?  For some reason i thought this was the case.

Jenn -- when D was really sick and i was working two jobs and commuting Tac/Bvue that happened to me a few times, without even the need for pregnancy hormones.  Hope you get caught up on sleep soon!

Good luck and health vibes to Link!!

look at you and your memory!  the diabetes stuff was something I talked about on here, but that was for my qualifying exam (something we do on a topic unrelated to our research the summer after 2nd year).  So yeah, I don't actually work on it, but had a write a whole grant proposal as if I did = learning a lot about it.  My true interest is in infection disease :D

Then you know about this study, right (re: malaria-preventing bacteria)?  So cool! (Not an infectious disease, right?  But still immune-related and super interesting!)
