I just got off the phone with the group that does my ultrasounds, and when I was there last week for my a/s I scheduled my 28 week u/s, they called me today to tell me all is well with the baby, but they wanted me to schedule another u/s for 4 weeks. The receptionist said that once you get further a long they like to see you every 4-6 weeks. It seems kind of excessive, I mean, I love seeing my little bean, but seriously?
I was just wondering how many u/s you all have had/ are scheduled for? So far I've had 3, (8 week, 12 week, 20 week) with two more scheduled for December.
Just curious to see what you all are getting.

one at 6 weeks or so, one at 20 weeks and both times one at the end because they thought i was carrying a humongous baby. they were correct with Ava; Sam was more normal, but I guess still biggish. It was mostly to be sure baby was OK with enough fluid because of size.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the baby, however I'm trying to not take time off of work to go to my appts, and this every 4 weeks @ Dr then u/s is kinda insane to me. I'm sure it's because my insurance doesn't care how many I have, and my co-pay for them is low
This is exactly what I am going to do when I see my Dr next week.
With an uneventful pregnancy with a delivery on or before my due date, I would have had 3. I ended up with 5.
6 weeks (viability)
12 weeks (NT scan)
15 weeks (bleeding)
20 weeks (A/S)
40 weeks 4 days (Dr would have let me gone to 42 weeks if everything was ok, but he would have done sonos every few days)
With my 1st pregnancy, I only had one at 12 weeks (NT scan), 20 weeks, and 40 weeks. The only reason I had one at 40 weeks was because I was overdue. I was told that if you have a totally uneventful pregnancy that just having those 2 or 3 are normal. I think that was all my insurance would cover also.
This pregancy has been very different because of my PP. I've already had 3 ultrasounds and I'm not even 13 weeks yet.
Honeslty, an ultrasound every 4 weeks for no medical reason sounds really odd and excessive, so I would ask why, and also ask if your insurance is going to cover them seeing as how there is NO medical reason to be having them.
im not sure what the norm is. ditto with everyone else. i had one at 4 weeks to confirm (i was bleeding a lot) but we didn't see anything. I had one at 12 and 18 weeks to find out the gender. I had one towards the end.. at about 36/37 weeks because I was having bad headaches so the dr wanted to measure the baby. I was due for a BPP at 41 weeks but i went into labor 2 days before.
I had A LOT but we had concerns for hands and feet. As of today I should have been looking at kidneys too since Dr said I should have been told they are small which is why we now have problems with C's kidneys.
We have 8,12,19, 23, 30, 36 - 3 were 4D. I also had ones were the machine was in the room, those listed were scheduled with high risk.
I had several
5 weeks (check for Ectopic)
7 weeks (viability)
9 weeks (my anxiety and doctor offered)
13 weeks (NT scan)
19 weeks (A/S scan)
22 weeks (2nd anatomy scan--b/c of kidney issue)
32 weeks (follow up to monitor kidney issue)
I had 2 the night before I gave birth at 36 weeks to check weight and fluid.
I would just talk to them about it!
With K I had a ton.....
4 weeks... didn't show anything
5 weeks... saw sac
6 weeks...saw heartbeat
7 weeks.. saw baby
13 weeks for NT scan
(I had one more in here...maybe before or after 13 weeks because I had a bad bad bad stomach virus and I was having bad belly aches and they did an US to make sure everything ok)
20 weeks for anatomy
34 weeks when they noticed I had low amniotic fluid
35 weeks ...recheck fluid, non stress test
36 weeks... recheck fluid, non stress test
36.5 weeks.... recheck fluid, non stress test
37 weeks... recheck fluid, non stress test
37.5 weeks recheck fluid, non stress test
38 weeks, recheck fluid...sent to the hospital to be induced.
This is very much the exception!!
This pregnancy
9 weeks - verify pregnancy
13 weeks NT scan
20 weeks anatomy
32 weeks - check fluids
36 weeks -check position of baby
Provided I don't have low fluid again this time!
Last time I had 4 - inital confirmation at 6 weeks, 10 weeks for heartbeat, anatomy scan and around 32-34 weeks to make sure all was good.
This time, I've had 4 already - confirmation, heartbeat, first tri screen, anatomy scan, and thinking will have one more towards the end, but not positive since position really doesnt matter since i'll be a repeat section.
i had a few more than probably normal with sue. for no apparent reason- everything was fine until the very last one they noticed low fluid. 7 (dating), 11 (not sure), 12 (nt), 18 (anatomy), 32 (not sure), 36 (not sure), 39 weeks (check size). my docs office attitude was sorta like, "well you're here, we might as well look."
this time- my midwives wouldnt do an ultrasound until the 12 weeks. and then i had another one at 15 weeks because i swtiched docs. my next one is at 18 weeks (anatomy) and i'm not sure after that.
