Re: s/o Feeling Old....Phones.

  • We had the old rotary phones all over - kitchen, den, etc.   That's what we had through HIGH SCHOOL.

My Dad had a car phone in one of his company cars and I thought it was just about the coolest thing ever.  I remember going to pick-up my friend with him (I was maybe 11?) and insisted we call her from outside to come out -- at the cost of probably like $5 a call, lol.   We were never allowed to use it!

I never had a phone quite this large, but I've kept all my old mobile phones and it's so funny to see how we went from big, to teeeeny, back to big again (smartphones).

  • Our family had all 3 at one time. In fact one of my library books talks about his very subject and my middle schoolers were laughing wondering how anyone could carry a phone like that.
  • We had one rotary phone in our house until we moved. It was mustard color.

My father had a flip cell phone

  • Yes, the rotary phone, all though the one I used was cream/tan not black.

  • My parents just replaced an old rotary phone.  I wanted it (it was this 70s green that was so retro, it was my grandparents), but I don't know what they did with it.  My mom had a car phone.  DH had an early cell because of his job, but it wasn't quite that big.
  • I love the old rotary phones. Really want to get a cute colorful one in the kitchen.

We had a travel car phone that was in a leather zip up case. Well it was more like a huge bulky attached cell phone / car phone hybrid.

ETA: My aunt had a car phone. She had microphones put inside the car and I thought i was so cool to have a conversation with my mom or my uncle while she was driving.

  • We had the rotary phone, in black in my mom's office area and I LOVED it.

  • We had a mustard yellow rotary phone probably well into my high school years.  I always wanted one of these cool clear phones that all of my friends had.

My friend's dad had one of those huge cell phones that he'd lend to my friend occasionally like if we went to a football game so we could call for a ride after the game.  She was really embarrassed to use it.

I don't remember having a rotary phone, but my Dad had one of those car phones in his company car as well. We weren't allowed to use it either - haha.

  • We had a rotary phone til junior high, and my dad had the brick of a cell phone!

  • We had the rotary phone, but it was the type that attached to the wall.  Then my dad started his business and we got fancy-schmancy 2-line phones.

My dad also had the car phone.  We were NOT allowed to use it.  I talked to my Grandma on it once and he said the minute I was on the phone probably cost him about 50 cents.  Whoa.

None of us had the brick cell phone, but I had the play version of it.  It was so cool.

  • I had a phone that looked just like that. I think I was 13 when we got our first cordless phone. I never had a carphone, but my grandfather did. He was ahead of his time. lol

  • We had a mustard yellow rotary phone with the dial in the handset. I wonder if my parents still have it...
