It's Friday

Yay for Friday!!!

Anyone got anything exciting going on this weekend?

Anniversary

Re: It's Friday

  • I love Fridays, but today is rainy and I just want to be at home in bed.

Tonight we are going on our 3rd attempt to pick a paint color for the nursery. Everything we look at is too blue. We want a greenish blue, but we're struggling. I had no idea it was so hard to pick a paint color!

Tomorrow we're going to a Brunswick stew festival that I've been looking forward to for months! The weather is going to be beautiful and chilly, perfect for eating stew. Then if we manage to pick a paint we like we'll probably put the first coat up on the walls.

Sunday I want to make monkey bread for breakfast and we'll probably (hopefully) put up the second coat of paint.

  • HOORAY FOR FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a ton of schoolwork to get done today and tomorrow morning/early afternoon. Then we are going to a surprise birthday party for my MOH and then Sunday MIL is coming with DH;s 2 cousins and we are all going shopping. Then we are meeting up with some friends for burgers THEN a beer tasting!

    YUM!

  • We are going to a brewery tour/tasting at a local micro brewery tomorrow with some friends.   I think Sunday we are going to finally have a Skype date with our friends in Texas.  I can't wait to see my neice and nephew again.

Other than that it's a pretty low key weekend for us which is nice.  I will be doing some cooking on Sunday though.

    Anniversary

  • Nothing overly exciting here!

Tonight I may head out to Target or Home Goods to look for some stuff we want to get for our new place.

Tomorrow I am packing all day and then DH and I are going to Ikea.

Sunday will be more packing and probably doing some relaxing.

  • I was SO excited for Friday this morning I wrote "FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!" on the little chalkboard in our kitchen.

I, too, am going to IKEA tomorrow! It's a little over an hour away which is a pain but we really want to get a new wall unit entertainment center and new stuff for our guest room before the holidays and this is our last free weekend. ANNNDD it's my first trip to IKEA ever!

@Liz -- We really wanted to do our master bedroom a green/blue and it proved to be impossible. For some reason shades of green are incredible hard to find. I saw the perfect color at someone's house and I asked her about it and she ended up mixing the paints herself to get the right color - not sure if you're up for that! Otherwise you may want to reconsider just a regular blue to save yourself some stress

  • I'm so stoked for this weekend!  We are going to help one of DH's best friends propose to his girlfriend!!!  He has a pretty elaborate plan and it's so cute!  I can't wait for this all to go down! And I'm SO bad at keeping secrets and I'm pretty close with her, so I feel like I'm going to explode!

  • @Margaret - that's so awesome!  I hope it all goes smoothly!

I'm super excited because I am off next week!  Most NJ public schools are closed this week, and it's certainly a much-needed break!!  I have to be here tomorrow morning to proctor the SAT, but then I'll be off until the 14th.  Big Smile

So other than working tomorrow, I don't have all that much planned for the weekend.  I'm hoping to meet up with an old co-worker for coffee and meet her 4 month old daughter on Sunday.  Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

  • I have been off all week :( but I work all weekend :( lol It truly sucks and I'm starting to hate my job, co-workers, etc. We decided to wait until next year to TTC. But with work cutting my hours so much, saving money is going to be hard especially with the upcoming holidays. I'm very bummed about it. So nothing exciting happening for me this weekend.

Hmm, that's not what I really wanted to hear :( I don't think we want to mix our own paints, H is really wanting to get this room painted this weekend. I really don't want the typical blue boy's room. I told H if we can't find something we'll paint the whole room beige. It's an awful shade of neon green right now from the previous renters. I just don't want my baby to go blind in that room!

  • The only actual plans we have are dinner tomorrow night for my cousn's birthday.  Otherwise I am getting a jump start on some Christmas gifts (all the gift cards, since they don't have to be returned!) and cleaning/organizing the basement!!  Lions have a bye this week.

Do you have a piece of fabric that is an inspiring/ideal shade? I had one for a particular greenish blue that I used to find the perfect shade, once. I used the Sherwin Williams paint and I believe it was "Dolphin Gray" or something like that - had a phenomenal blue/green tint to it!!

  • I'm working through next Tuesday and then I have until the following Monday off for a church retreat...it's going to be a long weekend but I love my part-time job so it's worth it! DH has been working every weekend for a huge project so we haven't seen much of each other here lately - I was secretly very happy he got sick two days ago so he was forced to stay home. :)

We don't, we're kind of just winging it and picking what looks right. We tried a color last night that looked sort of like sea foam on the sample container and it just looks blue on the wall. I don't know why it didn't look green at all.

I know and I'm sorry, but better to know now, right? Although maybe you'll have better luck. For what it's worth, we ended up going with a grayish-blue (more blue than gray) and it's really soothing and I think would be lovely and not too "baby boy blue."

I've come to find that just because it has the word "sea" in it that it doesn't necessarily mean green - I think it can get really tricky with wording sometimes. I would take something...anything...from your room that you want to have compliment the green color and lay it directly beside the swatch to see how it stands out. Remember also that the lighting in your house is going to be different than that in the store, so be prepared to have it look different depending on the light. I remember I had the perfect pink in my room when I was younger...but only during certain times of the day - other times it was either barely noticeable or even orangeish if the house lights were shining on it as opposed to natural light. I would recommend looking in the gray sections and trying to find a greenish shade - you might be happily surprised!

  • Thanks ladies. I'm hoping we'll find something tonight, we're going to try to look in different hues and see if that makes a difference at all. We were looking at aqua, but they just don't look right, they are too bright. This last one was too dull. I just know H wants to get this done this weekend and I feel like everything blurs together after looking at colors for more than 10 minutes.

  • Yay, weekend!!! And we get an extra hour this weekend too!!

Tonight I'm going with DH to the Verizon store to get him an iPhone!! His Droid has been dying for the past month and he was counting the days until he can trade-in his phone. We might go the store that is across the street from a Baby's R'Us so that we can get a baby gift and start to check out some things for ourselves.

Tomorrow, I'm going to see my niece's marching band perform in the state championships. They are very good and have won it a bunch of times, and apparently my niece does a solo for their performance (she plays trombone). Afterwards we may go visit our close friends who had a baby boy a couple days ago (hence the baby gift).  He is so cute, I can't wait to see him in person.

Sunday is just watching football and catching up on life.

  • The only set plans we have are to go to sign up for a crochet class tomorrow afternoon. Obviously for me and not H. My friend asked me to come to a join "team in training" (a running group who raises money for the lukemia and lymphoma society I believe) which is tonight but I am not sure if H has come up with plans for tonight yet or not.

Sheril, if you are looking for another job/part time job, I noticed the other day that Dierbergs is hiring.  Someone at work also said that Sees Candy company is hiring for the holidays.  I think SoCo mall has one of their stands during the holidays, if not, West Co does.

I had a custom color made at Home Depot for myself. Depending on if they want to help you or not, they can kind of fudge with colors to get it lighter/darker/greener/bluer...etc.! Check it out! : )

I think there are also a couple places where you can take in a fabric swatch, and they run this thing over it and can get a paint color to match almost exactly, or get coordinating colors!

  • Not really sure of weekend plans. We have been invited by friends to go to dinner at a new Italian place about 45 minutes away, but Jeff didn't seem too pumped about it.

Tomorrow is the Husker game and then we have a thing for Jeff's family in a town 20 minutes away. They are big drinker/partier types...so avoiding without tipping anyone off could be interesting!

Sunday, the Packers play. Lions are on a bye, so I might spend that day cleaning and relaxing.

The problem is we don't really know what we want. We're also not basing the color off anything that is going in the room so there's nothing to compare it to. I'm probably being super difficult about this whole thing, sorry. I wish this was easier because I can visualize the color in my head I just can't find it on a paint swatch. We've also been to Lowe's, Home Depot and Sherwin Williams.

  • tomorrow I'm having a girls night with a new(er) friend and her friends. I'm just thrilled I got invited. :)

Sunday we are off to look at non-short sale homes because this one seems to be going no where.

  • Well, just go to HD and find a swatch this is kind of what you want, and have them fudge with it on a sample can. They can add different color agents over and over until you reach something you like....just a thought? I mean, I personally like the color

    <------

That is the color bar on the side that lists all of the boards! Haha! : )

  • Well I am super jealous of the folks getting iPhones this weekend!  I really want a smart phone/iPhone but have a hard time justifying the extra expense of a data plan.  I don't need a smart phone for work so it'd just be an expensive new toy to play with (and I AM a gadget freak).  But I hate my current phone, and my contract doesn't hit New Every Two until late January, so we'll see...

Have fun picking paints, Liz!  I feel your pain, in the end we took the window valance to HD and they matched the green there (Kids Line Bunny Meadow). But, LOL, we still haven't put the decals up on the wall that we bought... Milo's room is still not finished... life of a preemie mom!

Tonight DH (and Milo) and I are going to an event where I work, a beer/cider tasting.  It's a fundraiser but the powers that be have given employees comp tickets (a rare nicety).  So excited because DH is getting off work early to join me (he never can come to social events with me because he works late and on Saturdays).  We will wear Milo and mingle... woo hoo!

Not much else planned... oh, maybe take the A/C out of the living room window for the winter...  and PATS game vs Giants on Sunday... I do hope we will this time!!!
