Swiffer WetJet?

Do any of you have a Swiffer WetJet, and if so, do you like it or hate it? Have any of you used the one that's meant for wood floors? Are they worth the money, or should I stick with a regular mop and broom?

Re: Swiffer WetJet?

  • I did try it when it first came out and I didn't think it did a very good job and I hated the way the solution smelled.

I do like the dry swiffer and I use that almost every day.  To be honest, I'm really picky about my floors, so when I mop them, I do it on my hands and knees with vinegar and water and clean rags.  Otherwise it's just not getting the edges or corners good enough for me.

For a quick clean up I do use a CedarO mop...

  • I bought one but I also wasn't crazy about the smell of the solutions and don't like using disposable pads (although I bought reusable ones off etsy).  A few months ago I bough the Libman Freedom Spray Mop and really prefer that.  It comes with a reusable pad and you fill it with your own cleaning solution.  Definitely a better choice for me.

  • I sweep and mop my floors once a week, and use my Swiffer between cleanings. You get what you pay for, and it does its job fairly well. HTH

  • I have the Rubbermaid Reveal, and I like it much better. You can put whatever you want into the water bottle, and the pad is washable. I don't mop, I just use this. But most of my house is carpet. I'm not sure what your situation is.

  • I was just about to suggest the Rubbermaid Reveal.  Glad someone beat me to it!

I love it.  I have hardwood floors throughout my house and couldn't be any happier.  I mop with vinegar and water every other day.  It's so quick and easy and saves me a TON of money.

    Enjoy!

  • We have mostly hardwood in our house and LOVE the Bona Cleaning System (we got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond).  Kid safe, no odor and leaves the floors looking and feeling great.  I found the Swiffer left a residue on the floors.  There is a mop pad and also a sweeping pad, we use them both.  You can pop the pads in the washer.
  • I have black and white floors and need to clean constantly.  I use mine all the time.  I like it.
  • When I lived in a small apartment, we had laminate flooring in the kitchen and bathrom and it worked great there.

When I moved in with my fiance (now husband), his house is all this wood-laminate flooring. The wetjet is the devil when it comes to this stuff! It leaves the floor looking liked it has a film on it and nothing but streaks. I would not recomment the wetjet if you have a floor like that!

I've had just as much problems with a regular mop, but that could just be because my mop sucks. I was thinking about a microfiber mop instead but I'm not very convinced it'll be much better.

I'm shopping for some sort of floor steamer instead.

  • I have a Libman mop that is similar to the wetjet, but it's refillable so you can use your own solution and it has re-usable pads so you aren't wasting them. I really like it.
