Good Caterer in Rockland County?

Hi Girls,

Do you have any recs for a good caterer for an at-home party of 10 people?  I live in New City.  Thanks!

Re: Good Caterer in Rockland County?

  • what type of food?

For immediate family parties, we're about 12-15 people. i've catered from Posa Posa in Nanuet many times. I tried La Terrazza in New City last week and it too was great. We had the Chicken Romano and Pasta alla Vodka. The only disappointment was the salad - I ordered ceasar and the packaged dressing was ceasar, but it was just a regular old tossed salad with cucumbers and carrots and tomatoes - not a ceasar salad at all. But I could live with it.

I've also done heroes from Munnos' Deli in Pearl River. Instead of the long 3-5' ones, they do them on a circle bread.  We're having that this Sunday for 40+ people.

  • Thank you!  I was thinking Italian, so Posa Posa and La Terrazza sound great.  I'm new to entertaining and catering, so I have some silly questions.  How do you keep the food warm once you get it -- do you set up your own chafing dishes, or does the caterer set it up, or do you stick the food in the oven first?  Also, on Posa Posa's menu, approximately how many people does each entree/pasta dish feed?  Thanks again!
  • i generally tell them how many adults and they clue me in on size and portion to order.

for what i do, i pick up at the restaurant. the caterer doesn't deliver or set up.  i don't think it's necessary for my size parties.

i also usually schedule to pick up about 30 min before guests arrive, so it's still hot. if it's long term, whether it's the wait to serve or i want the food out for a few hours to serve, i have my own chafing dishes. if it's just delayed to serve, i keep it in the oven on low temp to keep warm. otherwise, i pop the trays on trivets on my kitchen table to set up a buffet as i come home with it.

  • I used Francos pizza for DSs 1st birthday last year and it was delish. They came and set up. Everything with Warmers. Provided bread salad and offered paper goods.

Ditto Munno's. They catered my baby shower. They offer hot and cold food. Will bring the chaffing dishes for hot food (I think there was a fee of $1.50 which you got back upon return) their menu will let you know how many servings are in their platters, etc. And they will help you also! GL
