Crazy H

H is at work and I'm online like I always am when I'm home.  I just got an email from Brighthouse that our cable and internet are scheduled to be disconnected tomorrow between 2-4pm.  Ummm.  I think I've mentioned once or twenty times on here that we are budgeting for a few months while I'm out of work.  Well on his way in this morning he called Brighthouse telling them that we are going to switch to Fios, apparently hoping they would lower the bill or give us some extras or something.  Their answer was "OK how's tomorrow between 2-4".  So they called his bluff and he took it.  Now he's hoping retentions is going to call and beg us to change our minds.  Ay dios mio.  Word to the wise.  Don't mess with a pregnant lady and her internetDevil

Re: Crazy H

  • Brighthouse is the worst about that!  H tried to do the same thing earlier this year and they were like see ya!  DirecTV will all but pay you to stay with them!  Needless to say to we are back to Directv.

  • I tried that a few years ago with Brighthouse and it got me no where. Good luck!

  • I cancelled our cable & phone w/ BH on Monday, but kept the internet. The lady said if I would keep my cable & phone she'd lower my bill $10.

WHOA $10... no thanks. i'll just cancel. We can't get anything but BH internet here in the stix so we are stuck - unless I get a wireless card, but that's not really feasible since we run 3 computers off the internet.

We already cancelled our phone and that saved us $30, then we called our alarm company and told them to cancel the alarm because we have already cancelled the phone.  They lowered our bill from $47 to $24 and set the alarm to internet instead of phone for no extra charge.  I'm fine with cancelling cable and keeping internet, for some reason I just can't agree to Fios though.  It really isn't any cheaper, you just get a little more for your money.  To me it's not worth switching.   I'm just stubborn, and I haven't heard a single glowing review.  Do you mind sharing how much it costs for just internet?

  • Hmm, not bad.  I assume to add standard channels with no HD is not too much more.  We pay $116 right now for internet and cable.

I really wish I could talk H out of taking his work shirts to the cleaners and trusting me even though I suck at ironing.  I can't believe he'd rather give up Sportscenter.

What is it with men and their laundry?  We spend approx. $70 a week in getting H's clothes dry cleaned.  He even has his stupid polo shirts dry cleaned!!!!  Not that I want more laundry to be responsible for, but $70 a week is a lot of money!

OMG YES!  But in all fairness to him, I have completely ruined 2 of his polo shirts. Tongue Tied   The other day he put it on and raised his arms and I almost died laughing, it was a belly shirt!  Lesson learned...

  • For cable/phone/internet we paid $120

  • Luckily DH don't mind my laundry skills lol. I iron all his scrubs for work, sometimes I forget and he would wear it to work all wrinkled lol.

We have fios and I think we pay $150 for cable and internet. DH said he's going to look into it because it seems like they raised the prices. We usually just pay around $130.

LMAO!!!!!  Did you dry it?  I've only shrunk one of H's shirts, and it was a stupid t-shirt!  Otherwise, I'm really good about laundry.

  • This post is making me very thankful that DH and I have always had a do-your-own-laundry arrangement.  Of course, now that we have Mrs. M (our nanny/maid) we're both getting spoiled because she does the bulk of the laundry.  When we move to our next post though, DH will go back to doing his own laundry.
  • OMG laundry is always a hot topic here.  i was so sick the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy, nothing got done.  Poor H never had any clothes, and he was running around after Isaiah all the time while i was sick in bed, so I couldn't really fault him for not being able to do it.  Now that I feel better though, I still stink at getting it done.  He always has to rummage around for stuff and then makes remarks about it.  whatever dude, you don't like my arrangement of doing laundry when I absolutely must, then either go naked or do your own HAHAHAHA.

Yes I dried itEmbarrassed  It was one of those quick loads of whites and somehow his polo got mixed in and I didn't check well because they are never mixed in.  He has a seperate basket for the cleaners.  So when I finally pulled it out of the dryer and realized I hung it up and hoped he wouldn't notice, lol!  I also turned one pink which was a major malfunction.  I'm much better at being careful now!  :)

  • And an update...

We downgraded, didn't cancel.  Slower internet (don't even notice) and we went to basic cable, channels 2-25 no HD.  Our old bill was $116, our new bill will be $55.  That will be good until we see how we do with taxes and until I get back to work after FMLA leave.

Haven't gotten him to budge on the cleaners yet ;)

  • You are w/ BH Sara? We pay $50 for just internet - I wonder if we can downgrade our internet and get basic cable. Hmm. It's been kind of nice w/o TV though.

I'm super thankful that MH laundry is very low key. I doubt he even owns anything that needs to go to the cleaners. Maybe the shirt he wore when we got married, but that's it..and that joker is to big for him now, so it can go into the goodwill box.

I do the majority of the laundry. I wash H's work clothes separate bc they usually have concrete dust all over them or grease, or something equally gross.

  • Sting, yes we are with BH.  We took our speed from 10 whatchamacallit's to 1 whateveritis.  Just doing the little browsing I'm doing today, I actually think it's faster.  Weird.  Channels 2-25 are enough to get us through a rainy day for little to no cost.  But I have to admit, I will miss CNN.  That is sometimes my background noise while I'm cleaning around the house.  But yay for compromise and saving money, even if it is $60/month :)
