Any "athletic calved" ladies on the board
I have massive calves for my size. Even with my weight loss (and I'm now a size 4ish) my calves are 16"
But, I just got these boots from the Nordstrom half yearly sale, and they fit and look AWESOME!

LOL. yes. i have 17 inch calves, so i got ya beat. plus sized boots at lane bryant fit up to 16", so you're still good there.

what worked for me in the past, were the naturalizer extra extra wide calf boots. they actually have some cute styles as well.
haha thanks. i will have to check out naturalizer. but generally, i like my tall boots to have a stiletto heel, and i don't really think naturalizer makes those kinds
i blame my mom too. she let me eat too much as a kid, and my calves NEVER went away.

Those boots are awesome! I really wish they still had the "barnwood" color in my size (7). I may still order the black ones, especially with the Nordstrom bonus rewards points right now.
Emy, I think we're built very similarly. I'm 5'2" and a size 6 with big, muscular calves thanks to my dad. The best part is, I didn't realize they were any larger than normal until I tried to buy my first pair of knee-high boots about four years ago... and kept failing. Finally I found a pair of Sofft brand boots that worked. J.Crew's extended-calf ones work for me, too, but just barely. There was another gorgeous pair of boots on sale at Nordstrom.com a few months back, but the calf circumference was seriously 13.5"!
But mostly, I like having "athletic" calves; better than spindly calves with no shape, right? (I work with a woman with no calf definition, and always think she looks weird when she wears skirts or dresses.)
I'm a size 8, so I bet you'd get another inch or so for a size 11.
Because of the zipper in the back, they're also easier to get on, and squeeze your calf into.
Nordstrom can also stretch boots for you in store.

My boots are from Calvin Klein.. I'm also 5'8 so that doesn't help matters. lol

Even though they say 15" opening, they fit my calves as well, and I can barely get uggs to fit, and couldn't get any other rainboots (including any of the target ones) to fit.

i really wanted a pair at one point in my life...and they "fit"..but you can tell my calves were being squished in. no thank you. the 3 button tall ones fit, but they make me angry now.

i'm not a huge fan of the roll-over look..i like them tall....i tried them on when i was wearing a skirt one day, i don't know if i'd even fit leggings into it at all.
the 3 button look is growing on me..and i might get those one day...just not yet. because realizing i needed them made me remember how fat my calves were.

So, I was trying to buy those boots, but Nordstrom's site was acting weird. I've shopped on there many... many... times
but have never had these issues. The boots showed as "in stock" for my size. I was able to add them to my bag without issue, but as soon as I tried to check out, they were "no longer available." So I went back out to find the boots again, where they still showed as in stock, added to my bag again (still showing as in stock and ready to ship), then tried to check out and was again told they weren't available. Repeat three more times (hey, I needed to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong on my end). Then finally the site updated to show that nothing smaller than a size 9 is available. Fine... 
But then I had boots on the brain, and followed the above link to the selection of wide-calf boots at Macy's. I bought the Bandolino "Crittle" boots in cognac. $120 after tax with 15% off and free shipping. Woot.

Yep, I'm short with tiny feet but big calves...and they don't make boots for people like that.

I've been meaning to pull the trigger on a pair for awhile!
They're apparently amazing (completely custom), and while on the pricier side, really not that outrageous when you think about it. most are between $200-300.
