Divorced
As of 10:15 this morning, I am officially divorced. It was a pretty surreal day. My friend picked me up (with coffee) and took me to the courthouse just in case I needed support. The hearing itself was less than 15 minutes and was just confirmation of our agreement. I cried a little when the judge asked if I believed the marriage was irrevocably broken. I cried a little more when the judge wished us both well and then said "I also wish DS well during this time as well".
My friend and I then headed to a bar near the courthouse and had some drinks and talked about mindless stuff. She gave me an amber ring because it stands for strength. Time to start the next chapter of life.

I'm glad you had a good friend to get you through this tough day. I like the idea of a ring (my mom gave me one her mom gave her when she was going through a hard time years ago).

I'm incredibly grateful for my friends! I'm having a next chapter party tomorrow night and have all of my closest friends coming into town for the night. It's been a rollercoaster and they have had my back through it all!

Congrats on closing one chapter in your life and here's to opening a new one! I'm very glad to hear you had an awesome friend there with you to get you through a difficult day.
I love the idea of a ring too. My mom told me that she'd get me any piece of jewerly within a price range, so I chose a black diamond ring. It's gorgeous (I've gotten a TON of compliments on it) and I love that the black diamonds are opposite of the white diamonds in my wedding ring. Perfect way to symbolize my marriage ending and starting new.
The party was amazing! There was lots of hugging and lots of laughing!! I am really blessed to have such amazing people in my life! My party was call "The return of Ms. W"!
