My rant.. *sorry, long*
My old high school's varsity mens soccer was suspended for doing "The Bernie" dance after beating our rival and heading to states. It has been a fiasco over here. People from my high school are posting on facebook left and right how upset they are. Parents are going insane being upset at this decision to cut the team for the rest of the season, even our radio stations are against this decision! It's been crazy! It even made it onto yahoo news!!!

So, of course. i'm furious. I've been reading everything I can on this. My brother played on the team when he went there, and I'm going to support my school. This is no reason for them to be forced to forfeit. If you want them to not celebrate and do a dance on the field, then punish them some other way. This was too harsh. Mind you, they canceled the rest of the season on them BEFORE getting any information from the students and witnesses. They were reinstated today and they are able to play tomorrow. I'm so excited about this.. but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'm rooting for my alma mater!
SO, the players stated how they saw Ray Rice and Terrell Suggs do this at a Ravens game, and they look up to them. I love that they were asked about their reactions! Read here:

Wow!! I cannot believe this. There is nothing "sexual" about the Bernie. In fact, I am a teacher and at our Homecoming pep rally, all of us teachers did a flash mob in which the Bernie was included! So if it's "sexual" there was a group of 40-50 teachers doing it here!
I guess I can sort of understand that it might be a little unsportsmanlike, but it wasn't directed toward the other team in anyway. I guess I look at it as being a goofy, fun way to celebrate the win.
hahaa.. that's too funny! If the teachers did it.. they would probably have a FIELD DAY with that! OH lord.. I guess it can be considered unsportsman like and I can see that.... but I view it as a brotherly bond between the boys of the team and they're showing that.
It drove me crazy for the past 2 days. This is a huge time for college scouts to be looking at these boys.... and that was nearly taken away from them. I just hope the college scouts don't look at this poor judgement and rash decision from the principal. Glad to say he was NOT my principal while I was there!
I could see someone making a case for it as being unsportsmanlike. But do I think it was? No. If it was somehow directed toward the other team, yes. But it wasn't. Just good fun.
