jewelry - where to shop

Hi,

If you were looking to buy yourself a piece of jewelry for a special birthday - where would you go?  I don't often shop for jewelry so would love ideas/recs of where to shop in-store or online.

thanks!

Re: jewelry - where to shop

  • Tiffany.  Every girl should have something that comes in that famous blue box.  Their website is great too.  My sister works there so let me know if you want her contact info, she's super awesome with helping you find what works with your style, budget, etc.

  • David Yurman...*sigh*

also, I haven't been there in ages, but the Tiny Jewel Box downtown has beautiful things (including David Yurman).

  • i would love some jewelry from i.gorman (on 19th between L & M). they have a lot of different designers. they repaired my grandma's wedding ring (now mine but belonged to her grandmother) and they did a beautiful job. the price was very reasonable too.

  • I love Smyth.  I usually shop in store but you can see they have a few locations.

  • I got an anniversary band from dimend scaasi.  They have a lot of really unique things and their customer service is fantastic.  The stones in my ring kept coming loose so they are custom re-designing and re-setting the whole thing at no charge.

ditto.  They have some awesome stuff... it's mostly kind of non-traditional/modern.

  • thanks for the recs!  will be checking them all out!
  • I'm a huge fan of O'Rourke's in Bethesda.  It's a small shop and some of the stuff is a bit old-fashioned but they have a lot of beautiful pieces too (gemstones and pearls) and the customer service just can't be beat.  My H's family has shopped there for years and they treated him wonderfully when he bought my engagement ring.
