S/O: News article, dying "alone"

I guess this is a bad poll since we're all married.

But lets say DH was OOT in this scenario, how long would it take for someone to realize you were dead (or in trouble) at home?

How many missed calls/hours before your husband sent family by?

Would your work be concerned if you didn't call in or show up? Would they try to track you down?

Re: S/O: News article, dying "alone"

  • I would HOPE not more than a day. It's common for me not to respond to texts from friends, but I always answer my mom. I would hope she would notice within 24 hours. :(
  • I regularly ignore texts from H, so that wouldn't be an indicator. I guess if he texted me regularly throughout the day and I didn't respond to any of them, he'd call after a few hours. I think it would be at least a 9-12 hour stretch before he'd even be concerned.

My work would get concerned if I didn't show up or call by 10ish. I'm usually in at least a half hour before the office opens, and always call if I'm going to be late.

I guess it's sad that my work would notice before H would. Maybe I should stop ignoring his texts.

  • my hubby would get concerned, but we dont have family around to check on me, he wouldn't know what to do--he would probably facebook it.

My work would notice i wasn't there right away.

  • Work would notice, but they would call me. I work with a good friend (in an other dept). I would think that if I didn't answer my phone, after a few hours they would ask friend, and friend would probably contact my sister.

DH wouldn't know for quite a while. We don't chat every day when he is out of town.

  • Work would call.  It depends on my schedule on how long DH would notice.

  • If DH was OOT then either Daycare or my Mom would find out.  Daycare would call if I didn't bring Jane or pick-her up (depending on where I died, you see).  Work would probably call but maybe not until the next day. My Mom and I speak most days and the days I'm home she stops by.

My vote is daycare - how sad!

  • DH would probably notice within a few hours. When he's out of town, we usually talk on the phone in the morning (either to act as the other person's alarm clock/talk while we're getting ready, or on the drive to work. Sometimes both). During the day we usually chat on gchat, and if he's at a conference he'll text me between sessions just to say what's up. Evenings we usually wouldn't talk if he had a dinner or something, but we always talk before bed.

I think if I didn't answer before bed he might assume I fell asleep with my phone volume off, but come morning he'd send someone over.

Work would definitely try to reach me, but they don't have DH's cell phone # and we don't have a home line. I'm not sure how long it would be before they'd actually send someone to my house. Maybe by the afternoon?

  • Within a few minutes of being late to work, my coworkers would probably be calling to find out where I was and if I wasn't there shortly after that, my school secretary would probably be calling. If I wasn't answering the calls, one of my coworkers that I'm friends with would probably head to my house after about an hour or two.

  • If I don't respond to a text from DH within about an hour there is usually a follow up everything ok? text. If for some reason DH was out of reach, work would call after probably 20 mins of me not being there and not calling. Mom or sister would give me a couple hours after not answering and someone would be knocking on my door.
