  • I second that. Hope he is doing well. How are you doing?

  • He's doing pretty well!  The nerve block has worn off, but his pain meds are working pretty well.  (They should be...he's on both oxycontin and percoset!)  Now that he can feel his leg and has had a chance to ask some questions about what he can or cannot do, he feels much more steady on his crutches and isn't quite as afraid to move.  :)

He had his post-op appointment this morning, and the medical assistant showed me how to change his dressings and gave him a few light exercises to do.  We also had a machine delivered this afternoon that he'll use for 8-10 hours a day.  He puts his leg in it, and it provides continuous movement, bending the knee gently back and forth without engaging his muscles at all.

I've actually managed to catch a cold, which is annoying.  And DH is keeping me busy (getting him food and beverages, keeping track of which meds need to be given when, giving him ice packs, etc...), but I actually like it.  I like knowing that I'm making his life easier.  :)

Thank you all for thinking of us!

  • glad to hear he's "ok" after such a major surgery! get well soon - both of you!!
  • Glad he's doing good!  Hope you feel better :)
  • Sorry about your cold!  It sounds like you are both in good spirits which is the best for all healing purposes!

My mom had her knee replaced in the spring and all the doctors and therapists she worked with commented on how she was so determined to get her quality of life back and her positive outlook.  I think it made a huge difference.
