Re: Go to FlyLady.net

  • I just heard about this today! I was complaining about the backseat of my car being all furry, and my friend said she sells these rubbery products that help with fur cleanup!
    The pups!
  • Have you tried a rubber kitchen/cleaning glove?  Those work great on car seats/upholstery etc

The yellow rubber gloves? I will have to try it!

  • Yep!  A friend of mine gave me that tip and it works great for me...esp on car upholstery/tailgates etc
  • I did FlyLady back in the day...for a little while.  I got some good ideas from her but it just wasn't in me to polish my sink every day and wear shoes in the house.  You get a TON of email 'reminders'.  :)

There is also MotivatedMoms...same kind of thing.  There is a Yahoo Group (not affiliated with the MM site) with all the postings (so you don't have to actually purchase anything if you want to try it out).

  • Me too! I love Flylady. I found her at the end of January this year and signed up. It has made a HUGE difference in my life. I no longer spend an hour cleaning my bathroom!
  • Her idea is great, but 6 emails a day trying to get me to buy her products was such a turn off.
  • I agree flylady is great.

  • imageCrash Into Me:
I must be in the minority. I don't need some website to tell me when/ how to clean my house.

I totally needed something to help me get into a routine. Not that I don't know how to clean, or that I couldn't see what needed doing, but it wasn't habit for me, so I'd spend all weekend cleaning.

I prefer things now I have routines that I do everyday.

I agree with pp though that the constant pushing of her products is painful, and I also think her website is painful.

On top of that not all of her ideas suit me, but the majority of her ideas were really useful for me.

  • She was better before she got so big and popular. Now it is just annoying. My sister used her program when her kids were younger and it really helped her get on top of things AND spend time with the kids.

I tend to clean somewhat fanatically and use the organizedhome.com website to help me get organized (I also organize fanatically).

I found FlyLady to be a little patronizing and way to therapist like for me. I know it probably is a good thing for a lot of people, but I don't need someone telling me to take a shower and feel good about myself!! :-)

  • I justed signed up for FlyLady and my inbox has been FLOODED.  Yikes!  I don't need testimonials and products...all I wanted was alittle motivation to do things like thoroughly clean the dryer lint trap.  Some of the ideas are great like to put 27 things in a bag and 15 min to declutter.

The website is rough.  I just saw where she bit someone's head off when they comment it was not the best website.  Lost alittle respect for her...it was simply the truth.

Either way, it did feel good to see my sink shine.  But I won't do this daily.  Too much else in life.

  • I tried FlyLady a few years ago and it was a help... While I stuck with it. But I didn't like all of the emails and it was just altogether too much.

A friend posted this site on Facebook the other day and I'm really liking it. http://www.home-ec101.com/ If FlyLady is a little too hokey for you, you might like the tone of this site better.

There is just enough structure to get me headed in the right direction without it being smothering.
