Books and Beauty
Spent most of the weekend in Richmond celebrating my birthday.
Friday night I got sushi, went to the Dub Nation bass dance party with a friend, then went out dancing with my sister.
Saturday my brother and his wife had their anatomy scan, I was pleased to find out they are having a girl! Went shopping for some little girl things in the cute boutiques. Went and got another tattoo (an anemone flower to cover up the rest of the scars on my wrist). Hit up my favorite pizzeria. Barhopping/dancing again.
Today I had brunch with my sister and her boyfriend then hit the road. I really love visiting Richmond, but I don't know how people deal with it on a daily basis. Just being there for a few days is exhausting.

M went golfing all day yesterday while I baked and decorated a birthday cake for a friend. Today we did a little shopping and cleaned up the house.
The time change is throwing us off because we are starting to get hungry for dinner, but it's still a little early. I've got homemade pasta sauce on the stove and cannot wait to eat it. Tonight we're watching Dexter!!
DH worked long hours all weekend so we just hunkered down at home to avoid the crowds of the event on base. We had a friend and her two boys over today for a playdate.

I was getting things thrown and batted at me all morning lol.
Tonight we're cleaning out the fridge of leftovers and probably watching football. Joy.
We had a great weekend. Yesterday we left town to go shopping; I found a cocktail dress for some weddings we're attending in December, a coat, a shirt, an a pair of jeans. Then we came home to watch the LSU/Alabama game and watched some tv. Today we bowled, got the dog a new bed, and now we're getting ice cream! Yeah baby!
Edit: Oh, oh! I also got a new purse!
It's just a Charlotte Russe cheapy leather bag. I've been needing a new one but didn't want to spend $$$. I love the color, it's kind of a brownish-red.
I dig cheapies, especially since I really only carry them on weekends and I don't treat them very well. My current one is from Bayan Hippo on Etsy. She pinned an evil eye inside it, and I totally dig supporting a small business in my beloved Turkey.
We discovered some of the downtown area yesterday. There's a pretty cool toy store there that carries all hand made wooden children's toys. MIL is coming this week and my parents the week after, so we'll take them there and I'm sure DS will get tons of stuff.
Today we were lazy. DS woke up at 5 because of the time change, but he took 2 two-hour naps to make up for it. In between we went out to lunch.
Oh yeah me too. And the ones I've had have lasted me years, so they're not horrible quality; I usually only buy new ones to update for style or if I see one I really like.
I just checked out Bayan Hippo's store; there are some great bags in there! What's the significance of the evil eye?
My weekend was mixed with school work and spending time with my amazing husband.
I am writing a rough draft for a paper right now. I don't know why I am so freaking nervous about writing the rough draft, it doesn't have to be perfect, but here I am procrastinating. Oi.
Yesterday I worked all day, went to church and had dinner with the in-laws... Today I worked all day and now it is time for homework and laundry... Hoping that the F will call tonight, but he is super busy so he probably won't be able to.
Ah, thanks for the explanation! I've only ever heard it referenced in the same vein as the stink eye. I knew there had to be another explanation. Ya learn something new everyday.
It was alright. H worked crazy hours so I just relaxed at home for the most part. We did get to go to the airshow this afternoon before he had to be at work again which was nice. I love airshows.
Haha! When I saw it I totally thought "I need to take a picture of this for KC."
Pretty much lazed around all day yesterday, then went to the OSU game with my sister. DS suddenly has this issue with football stadiums, so he and my mom stayed home. Went out with my sister and a good friend after the game...the bars actually stayed open the extra hour for Daylight Savings Time, so we were out really late dancing. It was fun.
Today was another lazy day. Should've gone grocery shopping, but I didn't - so I'll be doing that tomorrow. Should probably put my grocery list together before I head to bed...I just hope the earthquake stuff is done. Been a weird weekend.
Friday morning I worked and then got a pedicure. Then H got home early Friday and we had one of the best nights we've had in the month we've lived here. Had dinner, watched a movie, and just relaxed. We snuggled up on the couch and actually talked to each other and laughed. It was great.
Saturday was the ball. It was in Richmond so we had a bit of a drive. Before that I went and got my hair done. We changed at the convention center. This was our sixth ball and the first one that had a real band, so that was cool. The food was pretty crummy and we left early.
Then I woke up ridiculously early with food poisoning or the stomach flu or something, I've felt like death warmed over for the past 24 hours or so.....boo.
Spent the weekend in Lovingston/Crabtree Falls area with my family. It was wonderful to spend time with my sister and my niece; my brother was a welcome visit as well and he and DH get along really well together. My mom and I were pretty much at each other's throats by the end of the weekend though. Dad was a gentleman as always and DD was a handful and a bit of a brat since we were with my parents. They (especially my mom) spoil her rather badly and it was aggravating to have your parently decisions evil-eyed and overwritten constantly and when I pushed back got told by my mom to "Shut the F*** up".
I was pretty much done after that.
I know, I'm late to the party on this but I wanted to share as well.
I got to visit CA for a few days and go to my friends ball, visit Downtown Disney (even though I didn't go in, it was close enough!) and got to meet Stan, who is awesome and hilarious. Overall a wonderful weekend, but so happy to be back home with H.
