s/o holiday cards: worth sending out?

If we don't have any kids or pets and most of our family/friends are local, is it pointless to make photo holiday cards to send out?

I really want to do this, but I'm married to the Grinch, so H thinks it's pointless. He thinks holiday cards are meant for people with kids and that we don't really have anyone to send them to.

FWIW, I was going to use a vacation picture of the two of us.

 Thoughts?

Who do you send your cards to? Honestly, I think most of our friends would look at them and then toss them right away.

  • If you want to do it, go for it.

  • I mean, I disagree that it's only for people with pets/kids, but I'm also too lazy to really do it.  I did see someone over on another board who had very funny and creative ones (I think her H is a photog though so they looked nice) - one year they dressed up sort of 50's era or something.  So that idea is cute, but I just don't want to put in the effort.
  • After spending the last hour looking at pictures I can't find anything that's card worthy. Crying

    Maybe next year...

this is my problem. i really want to do them, but don't have a clue who to send them to.

FWIW, husky (and everybody) i keep every single one of my cards i get during the holidays (and birthdays, etc)--forever. i put them up on the fireplace throughout the season, and when it's time to take down decorations, i take the cards down too, put them in a big envelope, write the year, and stick it in the box with all my decorations. at the start of every year, i usually look at some of the older cards, just for fun.

  • I like getting cards and keep them all displayed through the holidays...I think that's what most people do?

DH's fam is all on east coast, so they would def appreciate it and I have some fam in MI. But, I'd send them to all my fam and friends here too, even the ones I see every day.  My biggest problem is being lazy/procrastinating and not getting to them b/f it's too late.

  • All of our family is on the East coast as well. And im sure everyone appreciates a card with our faces on it. Just to see what we are up to and kind of see our faces after so long. Thats if they are not Facebook, which many of them are not.

  • DO IT!... my DH is always less than thrilled to do the photoshoot (we usually do it over thanksgiving weekend) but it super fun to stage and think of fun scene's or whatever.  Pinterest as some really artsy ish ones of couples in winter time scenes right now.  It will be a good keepsake to have twentry years from now, to see how you guys have grown through the years.
  • we have family in different states so we'd send them to everyone, including those that are here and those that aren't. i usually don't send them to my friends.. but thinking about it now, i think i would!

  • We don't have kids, and only one cat, but, I think we're going to do cards this year. There are so many people that I haven't had a chance to talk to in so long.

The one time I did this, my senior year of high school, I even wrote a little personalized note on everyone's card. I'm not sure I have time for that this year. Indifferent

  • We do cards every year, but never photo cards.  Both of us are of the opinion that they are need to include a child (or at least an extra-cute pet), or be a wedding photo.

  • If you want, I say go for it.

We don't send any out because almost everyone we know lives close by. Not worth the effort IMO.

  • We send cards out. This year we're using the list of people we invited to our wedding, my cousins, and the friends who we invite to our holiday party.

Even local folks like getting cards :)

  • I always buy the stuff to make our cards each year...and I know last year they didn't get out. :P If you want to do it, I say do it!

I'm thinking we need to get a picture of us with Ivan sitting on the front porch of our new house...although I'm tempted to rake up all our leaves right now and bury us in the them and take pictures. Hmm...maybe I'll do that this weekend just for kicks.

Jennlin- you totally have cute baby belly you need to send pics of to peeps!
