WWAND??

S got his 1 yr shots on Tues. On Fri he felt warm, took his temp and had a fever (low grade) and was very lethargic.. slept most of Fri andd Sat continued to run fever even with Tylenol. I called ped yest and they said it was most likely related to the shots but if I wanted to take him in I could I figured I give it another day. He still has a fever, lethargic but he was playing around for a little bit earlier. Oh and he hasn't ate like he normally does but he has been nursing. So im debating whether or not to take him in today. 3 days of this seems like a lot?? He's been quite a bit more fussy today too. Would you take him in to an Urgent care? (Oh and ped office did say if shot related usually goes away in3 days)

Re: WWAND??

  • I would probably wait another day or so. He may also be hitting a growth spurt at the same time dealing with the shots. He's still nursing so that's good.

  • The stomach bug that has been going around seems to start out kind of slow then they get really achy and then the belly erupts. Not to scare you, but it is somewhat possible he's starting something else.

I'd say that if he's nursing then it's ok to give it another day and call the pedi tomorrow.

  • He sounds like he is fine to wait until tomorrow, but I would call if he's not himself by then.

I avoid urgent cares at all costs. Seriously.

  • I know right!? Where did that year go?? He has longer spurts where he is better so we are waiting it out (as he is currently walking around with the plastic bag from the newspaaper stuck to his foot and cracking himself up!) I too am not a fan of urgent carres!

  • If it's just a fever, and he is normal when the fever drops, I'd wait.  We went through a 2 week span with E where she kept spiking fevers.  We saw 2 different dr.s and the ER, and everyone told us that a fever is nothing to worry about when it's under 106.  She was lethargic when her fever would get high, but would act normal again as soon as we got it closer to 100.

Obviously if you're concerned, I'd call the dr., but don't be surprised if they tell you not to worry about just a fever.
