Painting woes
DH and I recently bought a house; we got the keys on Thursday. We did get cans of test paint, but the two colours we so similar that seeing them on the wall didn't help too much. We wanted to get paint the 3 bedrooms and the hallway this weekend. But all the prep work (filling in little holes, sanding, wiping down the walls, etc) took so long that we only got one coat of paint done in the master bedroom (not counting the accent wall) before it got too dark and we got tired. The master bedroom is the most important to be painted, but it's still a bit of a disappointment. DH works tomorrow, so that leaves us only a few hours to work.

Can you call some friends to help you?
When we got the keys to our house, J was busy driving around getting furniture that people gave us. I stayed at the house and made a few phone calls to our friends to help us. We painted our bedroom and bathroom in 1 1/2 days. And we put border up in the kitchen. We worked until 3AM and was back at it at 9 that morning, but we got it done!
DH wants to do all the painting ourselves so we can look at the walls and remember that we put some of ourself into the wall, which I totally understand. We'll paint the hall and the other bedrooms after we move in; it won't be that hard to shuffle stuff between the bedrooms so they're empty when we paint them.
We did the second coat of the master bedroom today. DH said he'd do the baseboards and the accent wall on Friday since he has to be there all day because the cable and internet is getting hooked up. He'll have nothing to do because there will be no cable or internet yet, so he'll paint.
