is fb dying?

Is it just me or is the fb craze starting to die off?  It seems like fewer and fewer people are posting and using it.  I know that I will lurk on it, but rarely post any more.  Does anyone sense this?  I doubt it will ever totally go away, but do you think its popularity is falling?

Re: is fb dying?

  • I was totally thinking the same thing. I think since they changed it, it has lost popularity. I feel like I don't see everyone's updates and they don't see mine.

It is kind of a bummer in my opinion because I liked keeping up with family and friends on there.

  • I think the novelty is wearing off more than the popularity.  The way people use facebook is different than when it started, especially as far as commercial pages are concerned.  Facebook may lose some followers each time it updates its look, but I think it is around to stay.

  • After fb changed its format, a lot of people complained and threatened to get rid of it.  It doesn't seem too terribly different to me, and I could honestly care less.  I've never been a very active member, but I do have a fb to stay in touch with people who I would otherwise loose touch with.  I still have fb friends that update their status a billion times per day, so it doesn't seem to be loosing popularity, at least in my area.
  • I haven't noticed a drop in FB participation with any of my friends.  People always threaten to leave FB when the developers come out with changes and then they don't.  I'd never get rid of my FB and I'm on it a lot, but I don't post a lot on it either.  There are a few friends that put 100s of updates up in a day.  FB isn't going anywhere because there's no real alternative besides for Google+.
