Update on the goats.

If you remember a while back we kept seeing goats for sale on the side of the road for a Muslim festival, well it was on during the weekend.

I don't have the stats but there were A LOT of animals killed over the weekend.  Our little family decided to stay home which it turns out was a great idea according to some expats who I spoke to today that said they and their children saw things they could have done without.

The thing that had me so cranky was that our Mosques went bananas (we are surrounded by 6), I am all for religious ceremonies and respecting the country that I live in, but they took it so far, we had 24hours of continuous fireworks (even during the day) and preaching over the loudspeakers, at 2am their voices were getting pretty hoarse so some children got on the loudspeakers and took over!  We live among Muslims in our compound from all over the world and even they were irate, with the level of noise.  I feel bad for complaining but after getting up to calm Otto down because he was scared multiple times I was pretty over it.

Sorry for the deluge of posts today!

Re: Update on the goats.

  • Glad you stayed home! I don't think I could watch animals being sacrificed.

We live a couple hundred metres from a Mosque and our neighbourhood was swarming with people all weekend. Luckily for us they were not too noisy.

  • When I was in China, they butchered the fluffy white bunnies no more than 10 ft away from our table at a restaurant.  Not fun when you can hear it.  We all lost our appetitie.

  • Poor goats.  They eat them after they kill them, right?  :(

I'm glad I already ate lunch.  That made my stomach turn.

Yep they kill them, our driver was really sick all day after his family was given 10kg last night, due to language barrier I have no idea if they ate it all at once or just had a big feast.

Titicole that is awful, really really awful.
