Estate Planning and Life Insurance: Share your experience.

Happy Monday ladies!  I have recently become a little obsessed with planning for the future.

I am interested in meeting with an estate planning attorney for wills, POA's and medical directives.

I am also interested in meeting with someone regarding life insurance policies outside of what we have established through our jobs.

If you have already done these things, tell me about your experience.  How did you find the attorney/insurance agent?  Did you pay for the consultation? If you feel comfortable sharing, what did your estate planning documentation cost you?  Did you have a positive experience?  Would you rec your professional?

Re: Estate Planning and Life Insurance: Share your experience.

  • I can comment a little on this but not a lot.  I have a policy through my district but also a separate one that I buy during our benefits election period.  DH is the same way.  We haven't done any real estate planning but we did go last year to buy/reserve burial space.

I applaud you for doing this.  We had our family torn apart because of someone not writing a will and trusting that their second spouse would do the right thing.

  • Denise - not only do I 100% disagree with what you posted, it's also against the rules to link to a company you work for.

You know nothing about the OP's financial situation.  Trying to sell her a WL policy to cover supposed estate taxes is ridiculous!
