WWYD neighbour question

Sorry, sorry, I'm being a total PW today. Clearly I'm not working as well as I could be.

So, the window in our bathroom looks onto a duplex that's been subdivided into 6 apartments, and last week I noticed that the door to the apartment on the top floor is open. And it's still open two weeks later. There are no lights on inside, but I can see what looks like a mirror  - which means there may still be someone living there. What do I do? Leave a note on the door of the house and hope that one of the tenants passes it on to the landlord? Call the police? Any advice?

Re: WWYD neighbour question

  • Leaving a note sounds like a good idea.  Or maybe try googling the address to see if you can figure out who the property management company is (if there is one) and go from there.

  • I would do what Raynes suggested. That sounds really weird.

That's what I've been thinking! I just walked over and left a note, so we'll see if anything happens in the next couple of days. I know the guy in the ground flour apartment has a mental illness (and that he likes to raid the fridge naked), so I'm a little concerned about the note even getting to him. When I went over, there was a mail box full of bills and magazines, that I think must belong to the guy in the top floor with the door open.

I just keep thinking that the guy living there being dead or something. More likely he's out of town, I know, but something about this just doesn't sit well with me, you know?
