PSA: Planning to Vote in VA Tomorrow?

Virginia Election Forecast: High Stakes, Low Turnout

This is the headline for an article in today's Washington Post. Low turnout is anticipated because there are no federal elections tomorrow, and in an election in 2007 with similar circumstances, only 30 percent of those who were registered voted.

What you can do: VOTE and then, if you are able, assist others in getting to the polls. Check with your local community-based organization to volunteer to drive voters to the polls.

Please note that due to redistricting, you may be voting in a different location. Check your registration card, or go to www.voterinfo.sbe.virginia.gov to confirm your polling place. With all that's at stake, we can't afford to have 70 percent of registered voters stay at home.

  • Uggh, I just checked (I know I should have done this a month ago) and they have yet to change my address despite changing at the DMV and faxing it in last year.  Oh well, will go to old polling place again tomorrow.  Luckily it's not far.
  • I'm voting tomorrow!

is it just a precinct change or is the district now different? If it's the latter, you might be able to show up with proof of your current address and vote in the new district.

  • Different district, I went from Providence to Braddock.  DH did that last time, but they only count those ballots if the elections aren't close.  I think I will call the office and ask what they want me to do.

  • Yes, but I'm ashamed to say that I only know who's running for state senate. I know there are only 2 other offices up, but I need to do some research before heading to the polls tomorrow. Embarrassed
