Jaleo - is it any good?

DH and I are going to see Cirque du Soleil at the Verizon Center on November 19 at 7:30. I wanted to make reservations somewhere within walking distance for dinner before the show, and I saw on the map that Jaleo is near there. We went to our first tapas restaurant in Napa this past summer and thought the tapas were amazing, so I was hoping to check out Jaleo. Is it worth trying out?

it is quite good but i think that zaytina & oyamel (also jose andres restaurants and close to the verizon center) are significantly better. zaytinya is mediterranean tapas, oyamel is mexican. you can't really go wrong with any of the three. i haven't been but there have been some raves for andres's pop-up restaurant, america eats tavern.

It's a Jose Andres restaurant. Of course it's good.

It is good - I have enjoyed both my meals there. I do agree that Zaytinya is better. My husband and I found Oyamel just to be ok.

Jaleo is yummy. But I agree there are better restaurants near Verizon Center. There are a ton of options. Zaytinya is one of my faves as well.

What other restaurants within walking distance would you recommend? I'm definitely open to suggestions for yummy food!

zaytinya and oyamel are both within walking distance. i haven't been to zola yet but it's on my list (i have a gift card too) but it's also nearby. brasserie beck is another favorite but it's probably at 10-15 minute walk from verizon center.

I agree that Zatinya is better than Jaleo. Zatinya is walking distance to the Verizon Center. I went there a 2 months ago and it was really good! It was about $120 for the 2 of us with drinks, 6 or so tapas and dessert (incl tip).

Thanks so much for the advice ladies. I love trying out new restaurants in DC. We don't eat in the city nearly enough. I think we might try zaytinya instead.

In addition to the other restaurants mentioned, Proof, Rasika, and PS7 are also good.
