I might have missed an update, but what happened with the India opportunity?

Re: ::Coffee&Cream::

  • Hey!  I can't remember if I did update or not.  Life has been fairly crazy lately.

    At the moment, we are still exploring it.  I've told DH that if we move to India I want to be fully supported and for me this means:
    -Housing support (I want their assistance is locating housing, at least part of the cost and to be in very good/gated community);
    -To have a driver;
    -To have the company pay for one trip for all family members to go to visit family each year;
    -To have global health insurance and be able to go to an American doctor and densist when home;
    -To recieve part of his pay in either ? or $ (not a requirement, but it would be nice)
    -A trip covered by company prior to moving to get a feel for the area and make sure we are willing to committ.

    And to ensure that this fits with DH's career goals and that we don't take a financial hit on it.

    At first, DH thought I was asking for too much.  His comapny is smaller and they encourage people to move to other offices (London to NYC or Toyko, etc) and will cover the cost of the move, airfare and visas but that is it.  They consider it a company perk to be able to do that.  However, after speaking with a colleague, colleague said, I agree with your wife, you need those things in India, DH is starting to think differently.

    If this was to come about it would be about a year from now, I think.  Maybe a little less, so August/September 2012.  Apparently, there are not a lot of options regarding people who can do the job and have the skillset, so it might happen.  But my needs need to be met.

    It should be interesting!!!

  • I completely agree with all of that for India.  It's a completely different situation to London/NYC/Tokyo so deserves a little bit extra in terms of the package.  It had sounded before like this would be an ASAP type of thing, so I'm glad that you would have a bit more time to think it through and come to some agreement on the offer.

    Exciting to think of the possibilities though!

  • It is exciting to think about!

    DH had a big meeting about it last week, I think they want a decision to be made in January and that would provide the person and their company six to eight months to prepare.

    It would be an amazing experience.  Hope you guys are well!
