Dinner recs for the Annapolis Area

DH and I are meeting some friends Thanksgiving weekend in Annapolis for dinner. I really want to try some of the new restaurants in the area. We are pretty much up for anything, hell my hubby will eat anything these days. Oh and I'm sure he will be happy if it's not Turkey! Price nothing too crazy.

Re: Dinner recs for the Annapolis Area

  • We love Paladar, Jalapenos, Level, El Toro Bravo, and India's.

  • Carpaccio, Fado, Lemongrass

  • If you are looking for some place new, I love Vin 909 in Eastport.

  • Vin909 is fantastic, as recommended above. I love Boatyard, which is a classic. Metropolitan on West Street is fairly new and has great food. If it happens to be nice, they have an awesome rooftop lounge as well, but this time of year is tricky.
  • Ditto Paladar. I also love Aqua Terra downtown.
  • Paladar, Level, Rockfish and Yellowfin are some of my favs.  I've looked longing at Vin 909 but haven't been in yet.

I was pretty disappointed with the Wild Orchid this past weekend.

We went there for Mother's Day brunch (we had a living social or groupon deal, I can't remember) and it was only OK.

We went there last Valentine's day and it was just okay. We were also annoyed that you could only order off of a prix fixe menu and they didn't advertise that beforehand.

  • Ditto lsgarver, I love Yellowfin.
  • Carpaccios is amazing.  Love the atmosphere.  I love Paladar and Brio.  Also love Yellowfin.  Stoney River is pretty fantastic as is Jalapenos.

They were open a few years ago and closed up....so they reopened?  I know because I got a $100 gift card at my company Xmas party in 2006, only to find out two months later that they closed and I couldn't use it!

I mean, you know I'm all rah rah local food so I went in with an open mind but secretly hoping this would be my local food restaurant mecca.  The server was knowledgeable and the menu sounded good, it just didn't deliver.  Level does local REALLY well but they have more of a lounge atmosphere, not nice sit-down dinner.

I think the owners just turned Latin Quarter back to Metro. It's the same people who own Tsunami and Lemongrass. You could probably use your gift card at any of their restaurants.

  • Give them a call and ask. It's the same people who owned it before -- they sold it, it was turned into Jerry's Seafood, that closed and they bought it back and turned it into Latin Quarter. They renovated and returned to the Metropolitan concept this summer.

I really LIKE Level & I have recc'd it to several people IRL, but I can't love it because it's not the kind of place I could ever go to dinner w/ DH and have him enjoy it, since it's small plates. I think it's a great spot to start out a girls' night, have drinks, etc. but it's not the kind of place many guys I know would enjoy having dinner.

I'm probably in the minority but I HATE Level.  I had the worst wine and Margarita of my life there (I'm being dramatic but it wasn't great).  We have a work event there next Wednesday and I'm dreading it.

Not really a fan of Wild Orchid either.  Been there for client lunch meeting and was disappointed both times.  Excited to try the new wine bar mentioned.

This was back from December 2006, so I threw it away unfortunately years ago.
