Dreams Punta Cana

Has anyone ever been to a Dreams Resort or to Punta Cana, or to Dreams Punta Cana?  :)

We are going on a holiday trip there with H's family and I'm really excited.  We haven't gone to a really nice resort or really nice vacation since our honeymoon over 3 years ago!

I would love to hear any recommendations for dining, activities, etc.  I will be 16 weeks preggo so unfortunately no alcohol and probably no water trampoline (I guess?).. but hopefully by then my appetite will be back so I can truly start eating for two.

Re: Dreams Punta Cana

  • Hi!! I'm not familiar with that resort but im from DR and just wanted to say you'll love Punta Cana its beautiful!!

  • I went there for a wedding last year!  It was SO much fun!  I was around 17-18 weeks pregnant at the time and it was still fun.  I went snorkeling and kayaking.  There's 6 or 7 restaurants at the resort and they are all great.  It was definitely the perfect time to travel during the pregnancy...food aversions/ms were gone but I wasn't huge yet either.  Have a great time!

  • I've never been to dreams but we went to punts Cana in April. We loved it! It's gorgeous! If you walk down the beach, from us it was about 2 miles, there are all shops for souveniers and stuff. You definitely need to negotiate with then though! One thing to be careful ofis apparently they are high malaria risk there. I went to give blood a couple months after we got back and apparently you can't for 2 years or something crazy like that! I had no idea!

Regina, thanks so much.  PS I love your name, I'm a huge Friends fan.

Did you do any other activities while at the resort?  What was your favorite restaurant?  Did you go to any of the shows or were there good night spots?  Even though I can't drink, I love dancing and nightlife and will still want to do it.  I also love gambling so we are excited to check out the casino.. hoping they have a craps table.  I have food aversions right now so I am seriously hoping they go away because I love to eat.

For me the aversions were awful up until about 17 weeks.  I also had m/s to go along with it, whoever said that goes away after first tri was lying!  ha!  Hopefully yours get better because the food is really good.  My favorite place was the Italian restaurant, I forget the name of it.  Portofino maybe?  There was also a nice restaurant with American food that was good for lunch.

For activities, my H loved the ocean trampoline but I skipped that one, obviously.  We didn't venture out of the resort for nightlife, but they do have some nice bars and dancing.  They also did movies on a big projection screen at night which was fun.  We didn't go to any of the shows but I heard they were decent.  Kind of along the lines of what you would see on a cruise. It's such a neat place, you'll have a great time!
