Family drama

My mom called me on Saturday saying, "My worst fear has come true."  That was dramatic, thankfully, but she went on to tell me that my uncles' property was being auctioned off Monday morning at 10am (today).  This is a big deal because, this property has only had one other owner besides our family since the queen.  When my grandparents died around 10 years ago, it was split up amongst the siblings.

The two boys wanted their property combined - a total of 25 acres.  They, apparently didn't pay their property taxes (around $350 + fees = around $500).  Friday was the last day to pay it and that didn't happen.  It was in the newspapers that it was being auctioned off this morning at 10 am - because of five hundred bones!

My mom called my cousin who lives down there are she agreed to go into the property tax office and see if she could pay them.  She pleaded with two different people who told her no.  I guess she lost it and totally broke down and she had her baby with her who was screaming, too, and finally, a higher level lady came over to her and took her back in her office and let her pay them. My mom is going to pay her back.

My mom has already divided her land up to my sister and myself and it hurts my heart to think of developers getting hold of the surrounding property.  James and I plan to retire on that land.  It is South Carolina.

ANYWAY, just venting, and sharing a story.  Some day my uncles are going to be taught a serious lesson about being responsible (they are both around 50), but I'm so glad they weren't taught it by losing their land.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
